I quite like the look of those roof pods, do the lights come with them?

Are you planning any Kelsa light bars along the cills ect

I think so .
Just ordered 4in hallo fog lamps that blink amber too.

There's rubber grommet blank holes for the front door old still pin switches so I can buy them for puddle lamps. Won't have branded ones just led strips.

I need to rework the side door and tailgate. The video shows the guy sanding the clearcoat with 1500 then 3000 then 6000 then buff then machine wax. I've tried it and not really got the same crystal clear shine from it. It must take months to do. I'm scared. But I need to rebuild the van as I'm bored with the paint for now. It's ongoing but I'm doing the jobs I can do quickly which means progress.

I used to use 2000 wet n dry then 2500 then 3000 then machine polish with some 3m cutting compound, it’s a slow process but worth the time you put in, best thing I found was working small section at a time like the front wing and once happy with that move onto the door and so on, a bit of washing up liquid in the water helps the sand paper work better.

How much orange peel have you got in the paint?

It varies, a bit more than the manufacturer's part of me likes it as the finish is nice and shiny smooth. But the reflection on most cars is a clean single line, this is slightly mottled. I need to polish it first to remove any standing dust that was on the paint. I'll get there, it's only really the central 2 foot of van plus the upper quarter window section panel. My mountain silhouette sticker and compass sticker will cover a load.I'm probably being fussy with myself but have to appreciate that I couldn't achieve the best conditions either without spending money

This time next year Rodney.......

I'm really getting delayed finding bits. I cut the 2 reinforcement plates with the strut nips and I've lost them.
And I have boxes of nuts and bolts and all other bits but not locating what I need. So annoying . It's taking some sort of shape though :P

That roof lining looks miles better with the stretch carpet on it, you’ll be doing the door cards next or is that just me.

Where did you get your paint from and is it a true match?

Red ones go faster :P

I got it from propaint i think. I just asked for ford race red, they do it by code. Since I've done it all it won't matter really. I can't say if it matches genuine food race red though as I don't have any there,I did buy 2 separate orders though from them and can't tell the difference at all. The fuel flap being the exception though it is darker but I guess from not doing enough primer? :?

I'm a bit stuck for the interior. I've done the front pillar trims. The van floor plastics are black but the tourneo are grey, also the interior panels are grey too so I'm looking at either fitting the grey floor plastics as they are bearing in mind the tourneo carpet is grey, or painting the plastics black. 1 hand it will match the carpet and roof, other hand it might fade out rub off and look poop. I have 2 rear door cards and behind that I have the quarter cards. I'm doing stretch carpet where I can buy thinking of leaving the door cards natural. It might look good but I'll do it and see what you guys think. I have the triple rear seat in thinking of fitting facing backwards behind the front seats. They have detachable feet so I can remove them. Although the bench weighs a floofin tonne so I might need to install block and tackle

Are the rear seats on unwin rails or just the tourneo latch thingy, I see your dilemma you can buy aftermarket cab carpet in black but no sure on the rear carpet, personally I wouldn’t try and dye the carpet as it always looks crap and patchy I know as my daughter did it in the Alfa, can you not glue stretch carpet over the tourneo carpet just a thought, it’ll be a nice looking van when finished, I suppose leaving the door cards to match the carpet might look better, I’ve covered on card with carpet but no sure whether to paint the plastic around the window switches and handles black, suppose I should fix’s the brakes and gaping hole on the passenger door cill first

It’s only the bonnet and spoiler that needs paint on the cheap fester might see if I can it colour matched

I'll get it done and see what we think. So far front carpet is that ford grey blue affair. Plastic steps will be the same colour, did cards same, Rear A pillars same. Roof anthracite, front Wind screen pillars anthracite. Side door cards grey blue, the plastic side trim same. But anthracite on other bits internally. Floor is rubber backed black carpet. So it'll all look a bit odd i think. But I do have the option to spray the plastics, I can spray and trim the door cards in anthracite/black. We'll see.

The bench seat matches the front seats kado trim i think. The floor mounts are like single diamond shaped brackets. The custom ones look better to be fair but I have these, the ones that remove are from the rear of the van,the middle row are bolted. So with these if I want them rear facing behind the front seats I fit the mounts, they get welded in and spreader plates underneath. But I don't think I can easily rotate the seat and push back if I wanted it standard. :?

But I do running and stuff so find myself making most use of the cassette toilet to sit on and get changed etc. It is rear facing. Soooo if I put the bench there I can just use it for odd occasions of having passengers, but as a camper type van I can have the rear facing bench and I'm thinking of making a camper pod to have onwards facing at the back of the van so I will have the seat and the kitchen at the back, toppled in the middle facing sideways and both sliding doors in use, roof mounted tv on a swivel. I could perhaps put mower brackets in the rear position and the option to have the bench seat at the back and the pod behind or top the side. Loads of options. Could even remove them all dead easy and have bikes in there etc.

You should find out what colour her car is and if it is race red you can buy ford touch up tins, they are only small but do a fair bit really 8)
