Got mk7 bits to convert mine today. List below. Can you see if I need anything else for me?

Outer wings
Bonnet
Slam panel
Rad
A pillar plastics
Bumper
Bumper bar

Ta laaa

Is there anything else essential to the conversion mate?

Do I need the wipper motor and arms are will mk6 fit?

Also what are the inner wings I need? And what needs cutting off the front?

Any pics of the inners and what you cut off??

Cheers

You can use the original motor and arms for the wipers, but you need a mounting bracket for the mk7 scuttle.

The inner wings are in 2 parts, inner wing and reinforcer for the top and you need a mk7 scuttle panel :D

Chassis rails were cut down by 15/20mm if memory serves

And this is how much I cut off mine

Ahh right. I've got the top scuttle too. I think lol.

If I cut 20mm off the legs, how do I re attach the bumper reinforcer?

Do you have a part number for the top wing bits by any chance?

Cheers mate

Hi. I've been following this as a reference to do my dash conversion. I got a Mk 7 dash complete with everything. The only thing I'm stuck with is did you have to remove your steering wheel to fit the new dash. Thanks. Chris

Here's parts for inners and scuttle

The rails were cut back and the end player welded back on, get a measurement of a mk7 before cutting as my 15/20mm Wes an estimate

Hi Chris, yep I removed the wheel and Colomn, it splits just above the floor and will allow you to remove the whole thing :D Makes life easy, just remember to mark the shaft before you slide it apart :D

Thanks for that mate. Appreciated. What are the last 2 items? And are items 2&3 the ones that go at the top by the scuttle?

The last two I believe are the tops of the inner wings, the first is the scuttle :D

Would it be difficult to cut the inner wings off a van? Found a mk7 local... Also what's the score with the top scuttle? I'm not 100% sure what I'm looking for tbh. Is that bit welded on too? What implication is there in using my m6 one?

Thanks for the help mate appreciated

There's about a zillion spot welds holding on the mk7 inner wings, but if you want to have a go :D

Loads of people have done the conversion a lot of different ways, some haven't even changed the inner wing, and just cut it back and welded plates on to take the bonnet hinges. so you probably could keep the mk6 scuttle if wanted, but I tried to copy the original mk7 as best I could, right down to changing the radiator and swapping the levers in the lock to my original key :D

I'd look over as threads on the conversion as I could, and the decide what approach you want to take :D
