oh yeah my speedo reads 10 mph too fast

so from your earlier post, does that mean you are reading 65 on the limiter in 3rd and doing 55, or reading 75 and doing 65...

I think thats a Ford thing TBH, Gems 53plate Ka reads like that and its 100% standard, on the motorway it says she's doing 70, I can be behind her in either my BMW Mini or 1958 Beetle and both are showing around 60 on their speedo's, also the Sat nav confirms this.

my mondeo is 5mph out on speedo, but digital average speed is spot on, and odometer is spot on with GPS so they must do it on speedo only, purposely

nah not yet vans been parked up all winter being used as a shed still need the injectors and the map sensor to match

also found out this van has a 5.13:1 axle (good for towing) if anyone who does a lot of towing has a higher ratio axle and would like to swap, we'll come to your and swap them over F.O.C. ps this axle is mint condition just not the right ratio for us

would it not be better adapting the siera diff, the best mk6 diff you can get is of the 6speed isnt it 4.15
that 5.13 diff will be killing the speed wont it.

think you can get 3.7 diff for the mk6.

i'm thinking ideally a 4.0:1 diff would be right but anything taller than a 5.13:1 would be an improvent for now
all being well it'll have 18" sportvan wheels with 235/55/18 tyres same as chep so that might alter the gearing some more

i just dont have time to mess about fitting a sierra diff - too many other projects in the way

Ran this at the weekend at north weald

i'm 100% convinced this van could be a lot quicker with very little effort - it only managed a 17.25@79 - every run was 79mph over the line

i had a go in it and did a 17.45@79 the van sets off well good grip but the axle is soooooooooooo wrong in my van i set off in 2nd 1 change and cross the line in 3rd this van sets off in 1st into 2nd then 3rd then 4th all before the line (and still beats mine )

unlike mine grip isnt a problem - even on commercial tyres so i cant see a problem in upping the HP and a taller diff will do wonders for it

also needs a rev counter

i'm half tempted to run it myself for a while and tidy up some of the loose ends - wiring is still a mess - just needs the old wires cutting out properly and the breather pipes needs sorting - i could do with a pic of how the 2wd differs from the 4wd as its a 4wd egine and a 2wd sump they dont match up

now got a 4.63 axle for this (current axle is 5.14) - should be ok for a while - i think ideally we need a 4:1 but time will tell

booked in for an MOT on tuesday watch this space

found out its a class 7 did it as a class 4 last year never knew

also fitted some clear side repeaters from a mk7 (all the important jobs ) sod the axle get the indicators done

just got it back ................... and it FAILED

only minor things

both front suspention rear bushes
brake pipe
no horn
wrong colour indicators in the back
side light

so not too bad

all being well axle swap tomorrow
