There's money to be made in them no doubt.
Weather was not great this year for sustained outdoor paint jobs on the vans, i got the doors painted on mine but not the front panel which i wanted to do and unless there is a good spell it's next year on that front.

It's tempting to get on the case, i'm going to check the forecast as it would be best to just get on and do it as there's some bubbling of paint which means it will only get worse and panels are silly money nowadays..............i can at least paint that panel in the shed if it rains or is windy.

BTW is there any way other than stripdown of telling which rear crank seal and which front gearbox seal i need to get for a clutch job on the amby (1985) as i want to build up the necessary parts, i have only got a new h/d clutch plate so far

I didnt think there was more than one rear seal for the Essex, gearbox I dont know. Do you have oil in the bell housing?

No oil there, more a case of doing them for the sake of, i thought there was a single lip type and a double lip type for the crank seals, i imagine the single is the older type from the early Capri?
The clutch has been there for at least 20 years and no problems but it's got a fair bit of pedal up travel before engaging, i wonder if it is worth just replacing the plate if everything else is ok?

Just to keep Micey (and Deb) happy I whiled a couple of hours this afternoon fitting this..



It came from a 93 Volvo 960, its heated, fully electric with memory..



It took some headscratching to wire it up and a bit of fettling to make it fit..



All works fine now and the Widow has a comfy bum rest
