with the leafs alone the van would be on its arse - remember

with 2 leaf springs removed

if you add the springs in the coil overs it will raise it to the level req'd - adjust the platform to make it what you want

i might do my van one day, i'll totally remove the leafs tho

So if it'll work why you gona remove your leaf springs then

and with the leaf springs in place it still won't adjust the height properly as the shocks dont adjust the hieght its the leaf springs

The shocks even with the springs around them won't do the ride hieght cause the axle is not adjusting is it its fastend to the leafs

Each leaf spring is made of 3 springs, if you remove 2 then you just have 1 holding the axle. All the weight will be on the coil overs.

took 2 leafs out today and droped it it droped it about 8 inches my wheels crushed the arches had to get the grinder out and chop so there is some clearnce, not got the coilovers on yet as the shocker bolts are siezed so gonna take it to mates garage to get some heat on them to get them undone and then by this time tommorow the van will be fully ajustable

done more work on my suspension today got it all back together after getting some new u bolts and nuts from my scrappy, droped it all off the jacks and went for a drive big mistake needed to take another inch off the arches to get some clearence. did that then went out again big knocking under heavy acceleration got home and had a look under neath.


realised i had droped it a bit too far its now sat on the bump stops and the big knocking is the axel hiting the body underneath BOLLOCKS


plus my coilovers are too short so cant get them on BIGGER BOLLOCKS


so ive decided to get some new coilovers from burton power as they sell them in different lenghts then im going to make some brackets and put anti tramp bars on and do away with the leafs altogether, had a look at how its done on an escort mark 2 and a transit doesnt look much different


so in heinsite if your going to lower your transit dont remove 2 leafs one is fine but 2 is a big nono unless u wanna link the rear end like im going to

you need to make sure the distance between the 2 holes top and btm of the axle are the same as the ones on the body! it's a pity you couldn't make it to the last meet - i could have chatted about this, its still on my wish list

youve lost me on the whole 2 holes bit mate what do you mean?
i intended to make a metal plate up with the holes in the same place as the u bolts then weld a u bracket to that to mount the bars to and the other end of the bar i was gonna mount in the lear spring mount on the van that way i could use all the original mouting points on the van

you could do that but what you need to do is keep the axle angle the same as it moves up and down if you dont have 4 brackets you'll end up with the angle changing as it goes up and down

hi goody here, (WG racing,van) i did this to my van a couple of years ago before i put on big wheels,you might get away with this custom because of your arches, gas axe 2 axle mounting brackets of another axle, weld them on the bottom of your axle opposite the originals then put the axle on top of the leaf springs with u brackets the opposite way around, uprated shockers will do , if botherd u can shorten the compersater valve spring never had a problem with the rear just the front being to low
