I was thinking that sikaflex was a good idea until luke posted... , but I went back again when Rob posted.
I think its going to have to be some brackets made from this thick plastic sheet. Im thinking of a strip along the top edge, so the skirt can sit on top of it and the joint can sealed painted, then underneath, some supports to hold the bottom in place with some stainless screws going up, that way I can cut it along the top with a knife if needs to come off again...
Any better ideas is there any professional pimpers on here, nearly said pimps

bonding them on is the answer , if they need to come off just cut them off with a windscreen fitters long knife they will come off easily.

look how the transit sport wheel arches are held on , thats right bonded on

you know it makes sense.

if you start riveting brackets here and there i think you will start a problem with rust and corrosion unless you rust treat the holes and use plastic coated rivets like the old xr2's had

i think that is the best idea me self. when you take them of and need to put them back on the sika flex will come of preety easy from the metal and side skirts.

Spent most of Saturday with the fuel tank out and finally sorted out the spluttering, more pictures later tonight when I get home. Had a trip out to the breakers Sunday morning, so I should be fitting some mondeo clocks soon, 5 or 6 MK1 - 2's in there. (Not one MK3 - 5 Transit in there) Spent most of the afternoon playing with one of the side skirts, but I couldnt get this silkaflex anywhere and everything was shutting
My misses had to call me at 11pm from trying to fit alarm in to the van with no instructions and they will not give you fitting instructions

have you looked into skirt fixing kits alan?
for do a clip which the skirt fixes into

Check the make up of those others as some mastics / silicones have solvents in them that ATTACK paint and metal

I had to drop the fuel tank on Saturday as the fuel starvation problem statred again after the Ace cafe meet. I put up with for a few days, but it go so bad, that the engine would cut, bad times... I couldnt do it on my driveway, as any mess would mean certain death
Thanks to CH for his tools and workshop space, otherwise Id never have got this done. Anyway, found a little filter on the fuel pick-up pipe, which was totally blocked the muck... Something left from its petrol days, so I just pulled it off, flushed the tank and filled up with freshly filtered fuel. Not a cough or splutter since, good times:D

Had a slight leak from the return the pipe at a joint after a test run, but a new chunk of pipe cured that.
One for Luke, a shoehorned V6 Cossy, fully race prepared including 4X4. He also has a twin turbo version in a Mini

nice one alan get yourself used to seeing that engine under the bonnet you know it makes sence

oh and the filter is a common Di problem as the flow rate on a Di is much more than a petrol (as it puts more back to the tank) so removing it completly is the best way as the Di has the filter up top

hi al, sorry didnt read this thread in the past day or so. if you want sika flex you can pick some up from my house on friday evening. no problem.

I think Ive sussed out how I want to mount the sideskirts. A plastic strip along the sill will hold the top edge in place, then some angled plastic strips will hold it in the right place. Even leaves some space for the disco lights This is held on with double sided foam tape...




I had chunk left over, sort of gives me an idea...
