well i finally got around to sorting out the electric mirror on the tourneo. the replacement mirror unit had a smaller ring 85mm, so i couldn't use the mirror off my old unit as i had hoped.

when you get the new mirror you have to trim the plastic and measure it out before sticking it on

the connections were a bit lose so i tightened them up just to be sure they dont pop off while driving down the road

didn't have much time today so didn't get a lot done, but spending all day on it tomorrow to get it ready for its MOT

i started the day off with the plan to rip up the flooring that the previous owner had put down in the back of the van. And this is what i found....after i started poking it with the screwdriver. Being its the tourneo model, the floor had sound deadening material on it, it looked like a kind of poured plastic. And it was a bugger to chip off, which i had to do in order to prep it for welding. i got a bit more clean up to do tomorrow, but the hard parts done

used a chisel and hammer to chip it all away, it was a big job but worth it. I was originally going to try and save as much as the sound deadening as i could just to keep the van as quiet as possible, but after talking to RonTransit, and hearing his experience with it, i thought it best to remove it all, to be sure the floor was done right.

it seems the sound deadening caused more problems then it solves, it seems to create moisture between it and the metal floor which causes it to rust from the inside out, not good at all

Hi mate, get yourself a new rear floor in there while they are still available

Dread to think what my 96 model is like under there :(

Keep up the good work.

Thanks Tim, I'm pushed for time a bit, cause i have family coming over from Canada on the 9th of April. but I'm trying not to compromise on any work in order to get it done in time, so it all go at the min but I'm loving it. :)

i like the idea of putting a new floor in, and i was thinking the same thing about the repairs under the floor would defo be easier during the process of replacing it. I'll definitely have one of those floors off you

well i didn't get anything done on the van today, in fact its now less a battery, after having to steal it out of my own van, in order to get my car going. It seems this cold weather was just too much for my little 306 to handle, and its battery gave up. :(

But i'm back on the road again, so its back to the lock up in the morning to get some work done :)
