Decided to add a 2nd leisure battery so both have been moved to a sealed compartment under rear bench seat and vented through the floor with tubing. Really wanted to have it still connected to alternator so downed relay to 40amp and used existing wires (2x 4mm core) to handle current. Each cable fused at 25amp. Fingers crossed

Finally got round to drilling hole for filler point for gaslow gas bottles - so that's fitted in now :)

Don't forgett to change brake fluid. The old stuff will have moisture in and can cause problems.
I,d be tempted to change diff oil too with amount of miles its covered.

Yea i really should sort both of those. Was considering diff oil change, but got side tracked.. Same for brakes. Must do them at some point.

Took van out for a week before christmas.

Van is warm as fook on inside and real comfortable.

Will need to make some modifications to bed. Can only get a single out of it at the mo.

Kept blowing fuses from split charge relay. Will look into this more. Downgrading to a a TEC3 eleccy relay should do for now. Will be running 6mm cable for split charge and leisure batt connections.

Carver Cascade is broken. Needs a new burner box, so got one on order ebay for £40.

Small leak from toilet skylight. Will sort this soon.

No happy with voltage drop after solar regulator. Used a lot of joining blocks, so will have to look into using fewer and making cable runs shorter for high current circuits.

Got some sorta knocking coming from front nearside area. Could be strut top, balljoint, maybe tie rod end? Only happens when wheel drops away from van at bumps or over a fast hill crest.

Seal around fridge - big air gap.

Curtains for sliding and rear doors.

Some better speakers would be good.

Ran twin 6mm cable from 70amp relay to leisure batteries. 30amp fuses on each cable. Cable run is about 5 metres. Also added a switched before pin 85 with switch on dash to control charging.

Installed new burner box in carver. Works great now. Resealed it all into van etc.

Hooked up switched extraction fans on fridge vents and in solar regulator cubbyhole.

Ended up just cutting a piece of ply same size as bench seat to make up double bed. Tacked thin strips of wood as locators to stop it moving.

Hung curtain for side door.

Cut silver backed bubble wrap insulation for sun deflectors for all windows.

Sealed around fridge.

Hung extra curtain in shower.

Resealed toilet skylight.

Mounted straps underneath cupboards for suspending awning when not on side.

Adjusted handbrake.

Would have been fine for weekend and for a few weeks but I will be living in it for a few years and I have certain requirements when it comes to power :)

One of these days I will take pictures!

Dad decided he wanted his bike rack back so replaced with an amazon special. Will prolly need adjusting, but is adequate for my needs.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00E ... UTF8&psc=1

A bit of pipe lagging to protect the metal, should be fine. Now lets hope nobody simply unhooks and walks away with it :o

Fitted new bike rack. Needed a bit of filing to make it fit, but for < £10, bargain.

Got balljoints on order. Still waiting for them.

Went for these in end :http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390593509723? ... 1439.l2649

Was told Delphi is a good make so these will be on next sunny day. Then tracking, might try the string and axle stand method.

Will be defo changing clutch now. The service history of van accounts for even the smallest bit of work up until it found a home with me. No evidence of clutch change - so that means its been running same clutch from new, all 230,000 miles. Still feels alright, but it judders and feels abit spongy since I been adding miles.

Something like this:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LuK-Clutch-Ki ... 4ac5215d6d

is the sort i'd like. Local garage wants £250 to change it. Pfft.. I'll do it myself for price of clutch + aligner tool thanks.

Guide here:

Any hints and tips are great.

I will have a look at oil seal when its out. If its dry I will leave it alone.

Not sure about spigot bearing? £25+vat from Ford. Undecided as to whether to do it. Local top 10 motor factors said they not sold one in 10 years... Should do really.

Some pictures

The awning mount - held up by 3 brackets.. Am thinking about adding a 4th as i worry about the water damage on the front bracket - which supports the front end by itself. Self-tapping screws used are for ceiling plasterboard (i think) and have a coarse thread with a diameter thicker than the shaft. Straps are Nylon from cycle sprint pedals.

Two large black wires are coming from alternator. Fused cable runs up to the solar regulator. Other cables are made using 4 strands of 2mm cable as at time didn't have the 6mm cable. Ground is drilled into floorpan filler plate thingy. Also has a pulser fitted to keep sulphation to a minimum when batteries discharged. Not found my other one yet.

This is just the remote monitor. The regulator is behind the board its mounted to. The cupboard space has been reduced to allow enough room. A fan has been fitted to ventilate into the overhead cupboard.

Cut the hole for gas filler using some ancient tin snips going round in ever increasing circles. Newer ones couldn't cut the metal. Chinese rubbish!

Yea! Nice wheel covers.

That blackjack roofing tar really makes a nice seal under there.

Messy wires. Will clean this up one day.

Doing balljoint didn't solve knocking. Wanted to do them anyway as had 230k on them.

Now lookin at strut top or maybe track rod ends?

Also bought turbo clutch from Restorationvanman at an excellent price - will be fitting soon. Must first make sure I can get exhaust down pipe off successfully! :o
