Cheers for that.

I'm from the outskirts of York actually nearer Beverley.

Whats the difference between the 146 and 145 pumps and which is the best choice?

Cheers.

Oh one other thing soes any body know if the transit Di and LDV Convoy (Ford Di) use the same throttle pedal????

Hi mate,

Doesn't matter which pump, I would choose a 145 only because that's what Ive used before. get a peddle and cable from another manual smile, should only be a fiver from the scrappers.
You'll find all the holes are pesent in the footwell for the different mounting plate, so no need to worry on that score.

If you get stuck give us a shout.

Cheers

Well hopefully the pedal will fit. The trouble is that my bus is an LDV Convoy with the Di turbo engine so I'm not sure if it uses the tranny pedal or an LDV pedal. I'll take the other bus (N/A Di convoy) when I go to the scappers so I can compare.

I've got a pump by the way, I got a 145 off ebay and it seems to be ok, only problem is that the idiot didn't send me the pulley so i'm gunna have to source one of them too!

I wouldn't mind but my recond epic is finished now so i'll be off to pick it up on Monday even tho I don't need it now lol

Hi Rich,

I would think the NA LDV pedal would be the one !

Why have you decided to ditch the EPIC ?
The manual pump is without a doubt the fit and forget bullet proof option
but It wont be half as smooth running as the EPIC and in your van it has the benefit
of the better LDV ECU.

With regards to the belt pulley, its the same from the EPIC so don't worry!
Did you get the Bosch injector pipes to suit, or are you going to bend the EPIC ones ?

Hi the bus is used on home to school contracts so 100% reliability is required and that's something i've never had or will ever get from the epic system...it's just too temperamental. The other buses are n/a Di's and other than being reluctant to start on cold monday mornings they are pretty bullet proof and 110% reliable. If the turbo ends up being like any other Di but with a bit of extra poke I'll be more than happy.

Al

Is this correct? If it is then that will be my biggest headache sorted out. Are the timing marks still the same as I had been told that the timing mark of the pulley fitted to the lucas pump is different to the bosch pump pulley. is it as simple as swapping the pulley from the epic pump onto the bosch pump or are mods required?

For now I'm going to "make" the original injector pipes fit if poss.

I have the pump (145), it would seem I can used the epic pulley, by the end of today I should have the throttle pedal and cable and securing bracket, I have a new timing belt ready, I've removed the PATS module from the pump and the stop solenoid works fine, the bus it's being fitted to is pre-pats so that's ok.

Is there anything else I will need or need to know???????????????????????????????

Hi Mate,

Yep you've got it sorted mate :D

If you have a look at the Bosch pump you'll see the flange on the front of the pump has a slot on it ?
behind this in the body of the pump is the hole where timing pin needs to go. swap the pulley over leaving the bolts as far left as you can on the slots of the plate. With the timing pin in place then tighten the bolts before installing the pump then the belt. Once the belt is in place being very careful to follow the correct fitting procedure, double check all the pins go back in place ! From here you can start thinking about starting.
Don't put the timing cover on for a few days until you are confident you've got the timing just right!
Can't stress enough though to make sure your valve clearances are spot on as this will make a difference to the valve timing.

I'll PM you my mobie number incase you get stuck.

Oh and its worth stressing that they are a bugger to bleed, make sure the filter is full, undo the return pipe from the pump until you see diesel, then tighten once you see diesel there, then crack off the injection unions, crank until you can see diesel then tighten and then you'll start to see puffs of smoke from the exhaust just before firing. I'm sure you already know but don't keep her cranking for too long otherwise you'll need a new starter :?

My local sprappers lets us take what ever :)
Might be better with new pipes and unions anyhow, shame I didn't remember that one !!...
If you need them PDQ let me know, Ive got the fuel return pipe (if the LDV filter is in the same place) and a couple of banjo's and washers if you want to bodge a feed for now ?

Has anyone measured the fuel consumption with this kind of conversion? If i don't remember wrong, my dad's MK5 turbo (SWB, Epic and low roof) took about 11 - 12 litres / 100 km.
Ford Transit MK8 LWB '15 with 125HP
Frozen White

I have owned more than 70 units of Transit MK6/7/8, now 1st MK8
