Todays update

well there aint one coz of the bloody rain

we will have to sort a rain cover out tomorrow so we can work in the rain

got the afternoon after car boot to do some work on the transit

so todays progress

we almost finished the drivers side step just have one more bit of welding to do on the the step then off to the front inner wheel arch should have all the weldingto done by tomoz evening

a few shots of the new step




i think my welding has improved in the last week

spot the problem but was going to lower the front anyway


slight overkill me thinks but that was all we had to cut the metal

the step is startin to look good. its alot better than it was before and it can take my weight when I jump up and down on it and I am big lad

todays progres was all under the van today

we have the step totely finished as is the innir wheel arch and the fromt crossmember

all that is to do now welding wise is replace the n/s rear wheel arch

work on the van has come to a stop. I was going to carry on working on the van as dave has gone in for a hart opp today but 3 days ago I got a bit of metal in my eye. I was wearing goggles when i was working on the van so it must have got in there when dave was grinding and i walked past but I dit not know there was any metal in there till gone midnight. I tryed to wash it out but it was well stuck in there so yesterday I was at A n E were they got some of it out but it has gone in very deep so at 10am today I had a opp on my eye. they used a drill to get 99% of the metal out and now I have a pach over my eye for the next 24 hours and have to go back in a weeks time.

So A message to every one working on there vans always wear goggles even when you are not grinding

also dave if you get online i hope your opp today was ok and i will see you soon ( well I hope to see soon lol )

hey all the op all went ok and i amback at my mums now just in a bit of pain was given enough drugs to knock an adult out but was wide awake through the whole thing and had to have 4 cups of tea when i got back on the ward
i have been told not to ues my hand so i dont think the van is going to get finished before the 22nd sorry ozzy

you guys have been busy,
and ozzy sounds like you wher lucky you didnt do any more damage as that sounds painfull, it was bad enough when i had a grinding spark rust on the front of my eye.
Might see you about when you get it on the road.

well today I took the pach of my eye and I can see so I was back working on the van by 2pm after putting all sorts of drops in my eye. my nieces was there to help me. we got the van all cleaned out and put the ply lining back in the drivers side wall now all the welding is done on that side and started on putting all the camper / day van stuff in there places.

tomorrow if my eye is still ok I am going over to my arnts place to pick up all the wood I have been keeping there and then going over to the van.

I also got A electric sander today so I will try to get all the filler work done.

dave you say you dont think the van will be done by the 22nd. you have little faith mate I will work day and night if I have to and when you get back you can sit and laugh at me lol

Hi all

todays update

I started the day by getting all the welding done on the front iner arch and getting it all undersealed. I then took the front drivers side coil spring out and cut the bottom coil out as it had snaped and then did the same to the other side. the van now sits a bit lower but not by much.

I undersealed most of the other side of the van and its looking like new under there now.

then it was onto the bodywork. I got most of the sanding done on the back arch but it still needs some more filler. it will be in paint soon.

I ran out of welding wire again so after going out and getting some more I finished welding the bottom of the outer sill. so thats all done.

tomorrow I will weld the very last bit on the drivers side just under the step and it will all be done on that side and then carry on with the filler and body work.

oh and also I found out why the ABS light is on. the guy I got the van of has put a none ABS hub on the passenger side with a hadit disc. the old parts was in the back of the van and it had a snaped of bolt were the ABS sender bolts on. the worn out brake disc will also explain why the brakes pull more to one side and why the brake pedal has lots of play. my old man has got the snaped bolt out of the hub. so tomorrow I will pick up some new wheel bearings and a new bolt and put all the good parts back on. so it should have good brakes aswell tomorrow

jobs left to do for a mot is get new bushes for the back dampers and sort out the front head lights as they have faded. can anyone help with sortin the head lights ?

anyway dave will be back tomorrow so I will ask him to sort some pics out for you all

all i will say its now got paint on it and its now a van on the dark side.
