Guy, i haven't seen a Pinto mount.... but i was thinking if 'could' use the ally Granada/Scorp mounts instead of the massive steel Ford Amby ones, then half the problems would go away ... i could connect up the oil return to the sump, and use the remote oil filter and cooler, no problem!

... cheers

i cant see exactly what problems you are having with the mounts :? cant you mod the mounts at all :?: as you have the proper mounts imo thats the way to go as the rubber cusion it much bigger than the pinto ones :D - im gonna have the same problems when i do mine, is it both or just one mount that is in the way :?: can you email me a photo showing the problem :?: im sure there must be a way round it :?

The pinto ones go up at 45 degrees. when i was speaking to big john he said about cutting them bending them vertical and using the ally mounts. apparently they are all in the right place. i will find out at the weekend

yeah thats what oxtony did :!: i suppose that its the same mount (engine) as used in the granny and the chassis mount will be stronger - the weakest link is the ally bit :?
the amby mounts are ott but i like that

2.9 engine mounts

Luke Mark et al,

If you use the steel Amby mounts for your 24v,because they have this 'brace' that goes backwards to the adapter plate, they run very close to the sump. This prevents the oil return pipe from connecting to the sump, as the spigot sticks out from the sump by an inch or so.... :(
... and the oil filter/cooler remote is also a problem, again, due to the size and shape of the stel mount + brace.... it just gets in the way, because on the 12v motor these things are not present..... :(

i will dig a photo out in jiffy .....

cheers

if you can see the photo above, you might notice the 'oval' oil return in the side of the sump, just dotted with some orange silicone....
...the spigot for this is just haning down on the end of the return pipe in front of the mount......

This will not bolt up to the sump with the Amby mount there... :-( but using the ally Scorp one would allow it to be fitted.....?

It only seems to be this side with the problems, the 'clutch' side seems OK so far ....?

ah i see now :D still not a problem :? - can you weld it, its it cast :?: mabe cut out a hole there and weld a pipe in to get the strength back :!: or mabe space it (the mount) off the block to give clearance and reddrill the plate where it supports it - (i prefer the 1st idea) :!: is that the only problem :?:

.... :-) on the money Luke.....

Yes that is what i think i will do .... blank it off (the hole in the sump) behind the mount then reroute the pipework downwards to the sump and drill and tap the sump to take the spigot.....

It is not under a great pressure, just gravity, so shouldn't have to stand too much .:-) ?

As an aside, does anyone know where i can find Transit engine mount rubbers, the rubber things with the two 10mm studs top and bottom.... Local Ford dealer has no stock... :-(

cheers

... i have been to Ford, they have a different FINIS code,, the 2.9 to the 2.5Di ones, but i can't find any Di ones around, to look at ... one in Edinburgh according to Ford!!

Anyone know of a supplier at reasonable cost.....?

The Di lump is HEAVY, so i reckon the Di mount rubber has a shear factor enough to support the iron block + ally heads of the 24v OK...?

So, again, does anyone know where i can get Di engine mount rubbers from.....?

thanks again, ....... :-)

does yours also foul the water pipe coming out of the oil filter housing :?:

im thinking of remanufacturing the entire mount :x i'll see if i can get some photos of mine up :!:
