Hi Jono,
I'm not familiar with your engine but some petrol engines have a water cooled inlet manifold to help with the fuel vaporization issue (also may have a heat shield under the carb). If your inlet manifold is plumbed in you should check for air locks in the manifold/manifold pipes. There could be a bleed point to let the air out. If you have a service manual, look at the section on refilling with coolant, it should give the bleeding procedure, if there is one.

Aw thanks you all. Having heeded advice i had a look when i was at wickes just now buying some timber to repair the front underside of the camper bit.

Something smelt really awful which i reckon might be the clutch burning out, but while moving all the leads away from manifolds etc i found that the main ht lead to the dizzy was loose so pushed that back in and she seems to be running better now (and with no smell but i think that might just be wishful thinking)

I am still learning!!!

Yip, at least you could spot the popped dizzy the second time! Note to self, must make a point and check picture for the engine bay!

I have just finished working on a mk2 transit with a pinto 2lt petrol
engine with the same problem which turned out to be a leaking
inlet manifold gaskett.
a very straight forward job to do.
Hope you get it sorted soon.

Aw thanks CE, will have a read up on that. Been told the exhaust manifold is loose too...slowly but surely.

Have a really nice type 9 box to fit though courtesy of transit dave of the bentley bros. never seen so many transits in one place, all in different states of need. Really really nice guys to deal with and used to be on the forum some years back. He said i could only have a 9 as i had a petrol and wouldnt let me have one if i had a derv...

Also have bushes now to fit the fated new rear springs that dave found me too...

Awaiting mobilevanman eagerly on saturday to watch him work his butt off while i make coffee and chuckle so all good! Very excited about the next week or so...

Naw, not yet, just waiting for the mvm to bring the technical know how, the equipment, the knowledge, the bits i forgot to buy and the time, but apart from that im ready to go...
