build van over a pit, and you'll slowly get nearer the underside of the van 8)

Following this thread with great intrest, as I am about to do something simuliar but with standard di engine. my question to you Browney, did you have to use lower springs ? or was that the height you arrived at even after you cut into the chassis to fit the Mk5 crossmember ? I just want to keep my van at the standard height and i am not sure to cut into the chassis or not.

BROWNY, The welds you'v done are spaced about an inch or two at the top of the van, are you going to weld in between as well or just skim the welds and fill them with hard metal paste? Its very impotant to me if i may ask, thanks.

yes i am going to weld some more,when i was doing it i was taking my time so not to distort the panel,theres lots more spots to go on there yet :wink:

spent allday sunday and a few hours tonite doin a bit more

firstly i chopped off the rusty gutter

then i spent ages drillin out spot welds an cuttin bits off the new bit of gutter/box section

got it tacked on sunday an have spent this eve weldin it up,insides done
