Ah well, despite valiant attempts from the mobilevanman and expert spanner passing from myself, puk the troublesome has lived up to his usual self!

The 4 speed box is out but on inspection the clutch needed replacement. Good news was that the first class motor factors in maldon had one at 68 plus vat...bad news, not until tuesday.

Good news is that the prop shaft fits perfectly, bad news is the mvm will have to tailor a couple of bulkheads and redesign the main supporting bracket.

But! The exhaust fitted back to the manifold well and we also redesigned the carb setup to hopefully help with the standstill issue and also confirmed how to put in the erberspacher hand wash when it gets here...all in all a very fun and entertaining morning!!

Right, important bits before i get carried away, all of this is with the help time patience and understanding of mvm over the last few days...

Prob with the carb was cured by turning the fuel return pipe 90 degrees to the fuel supply pipe so we didnt have to take it back to the tank, this may help others

The type 9 was good for a petrol engine but fitting was a bit complicated...the mid location metal holder needed to be dropped and the chassis needed some angle grinder modelling to let the box and shaft sit straight. The floor plan needed some gentle hammer adjustment to get to reverse...trying to find a clutch on a saturday afternoon was a mare! And it took 2 days to deliver (include this in your plans) apart from that, pretty plain sailing for a spanner passer!

Good luck if youre reading this for the technical information...you always more than welcome to pop to Maldon and have a looksee if it helps!

Dude great news but ate you still gettin vapour locked carb then?
Never ever had that problem with pinto...
Check timing not retarded, and if still happens I have spare fuel line get mvm to run a return to tank, will allow heat to be taken away from carb fuel acts like coolant!

Yes, still getting a little vapour lock but mvm has had so much to concentrate on, the carbs have had to take a back seat for a bit, no doubt he will have a view ;)

Aw mate, yes, i havent forgotten and i know i am way overdue on the house calls :)

We set the return pipe at 90 degrees and its about a foot long, i may try timing and fiddling before playing with the return again. I reckon that the setup should have cured the return now, but who am i???
