Just had a quick look...

Looks like there are 2 flexis on the rear on a sierra (but dont they have IRS anyway?) QH part no is BFH4949 (on a mk2 2.8 anyhow)

or BFH4357 on a 2.0

4357 is 10mmx1 male on both ends overall length 317mm
4949 is the same but 218mm overall.

Any use?

that sounds like what i need 8)

axles back on the van now - well half on it started raining so i left it there  the only thing i'm short of now (to stop me drive it) is the wheel studs - i think i might have some if not i'll take em from the old axle :D

quick pic of the caliper bracket :D i decided to leave the old bracket on just icase ........ you never know what mods it'll need in the future, it's not in the way but it made it a pain to weld the other side but it's not going anywhere :D

luke do yourself a favour and use flexi hoses with a banjo fitting onto the caliper
we have just fitted aset of sierra calipers on tracys capri without the banjo fittings  and it was a right pain in the ar$e your brake pipes end up twisting all over the place so i shall be re-doing them with banjo's  :)

progress :)

i've been a bit slow on this as i've decided to build a box trailer for Transitmania to store all the gear in so i've been doing work on that this weekend - also means i need to fit a towbar to this van too

back to the van ................ nothing has gone right this weekend :x

the calipers dont fit - they foul on the spring hangers - needs a bit of modding :)
i'd forgot about the step in the wheel spigot - the wheel is 66.5 and the disk is 67mm  no probs  i thought i'll just jack it up run the engine in 5th and hold the grinder up to it - my own lathe at last  anyway ran it up and it juddered like mad  :( not sure what it is but i really hope it's not the axle :? i think it's the prop as looking down it it doesnt look strait - ie the centre hanger looks in the wrong place, but i'm not sure if it's an optical illusion :? - the offset on the diff is only 10mm different to the old one so i cant see that being a problem :?
anyway got the wheels ground up gome to fit the studs and the old caliper brackets i'd left on were in the way   bit of a mod with the angle grinder problem sorted
next thing the tramp bars dont line up :? about half a hole out so i'm now gonna look back to see if i tacked the hangers on when i had the diff angle wrong  dont think i did - i just hope they will locate if i loosen off the hangers - they've got to come off anyway

all that tho and another litre of diff oil and i'm gonna take it for a run - just to see  no back brakes and no tramp bars

just took it round the block - the vibration doesnt seem to be there when i drive it :? there are a few other vibrations from other bits  i think i'll get it up on the ramps and have a good look underneith check the alignment of the prop before i give it any serious testing
but as far as the ratio goes it seems pritty good - you can still pull off in 2nd but not as easy as before and 1st does feel better :D
and the wheels arnt as far out as i'd calculated :? just need these fronts in a bit ........ but i have a plan

yeah sometimes you need to go back before you can go forwards

very cunning  but 1st it involves me finding a pair of 15" 6 stud calipers :)

i had a bit of a think about this today (sometimes you need to walk away and have a fresh think) - and i wonder if when it was jacked up the prop uj angle was too much - as i'd got the van resting on the tramp bar mounts and the axle was hanging on the springs  it would explain why it was ok when i drove it :D hope its that anyway   normally with a production vehicle you'd expect it to be ok but as mines been altered mabe thats why as all ive set it up for is when its level on the road :D

could be that simple.i got that on me cortina when it was jacked up the wheel spun but then got stuck.turned out to be catching on the top wishbone where the b/joint ic knackered and the shock is hanging from the bottom.

i hope so

realised the error of my ways now with the tramp bars :( basically i've had the axle at its lowest position (weight on the chassis and axle hanging off the leafs) as i've tacked them up  :x

so now if i fit them when the axle is in the correct position they are in a lot of tension and as the axle winds the power on they go neutral then into compression rather than neutral then strait into compression- so in effect they wont be as good :(

not sure what i'm gonna do now, i could fit them by just dropping the axle down but i'll not fit them like this as it'd be bugging me

I wouldnt worry about it vibrating when jacked up, most RWD vehicles will do it without any load on, mine nearly shook my fillings out when I tried to calibrate the speedo
But on the road she's as smooth as silk right up to the speed limit, and
