Every time I get to do some grinding and rust removing, my boss sweeps the floor and says: "I have to work hard to remove any weight from my car yet your Lola is getting lighter every week without a lot of effort!"  He's got a racing car... I offered him some of my rust worm, but he said it's better off in the bin  Just imagine what would happen if they suddenly stopped rusting  we'd be sooo bored :!:

Anyway - Lola has been a good girl. :D Haven't had much time and space to do any major work on her, she's been busy tho...

Well... money spent on her has to be earned somewhere don't they...? She's been working for quite some time now (when she wasn't broken down that is  ) and will have to continue doing so until we have all the money she needs to get into good shape. :? Have you not seen the tons of levelling compound she's been delivering? Lowered Lola with 1.5 ton inside her, before the axle change

     Thank you :D

Yes, Lola is behaving very well - knock on the wood, she's driving like a pocket rocket - I'm very pleased with her and will update this thread soon with little bits and bobs that are being done. :D Unfortunately my work (and lazyness at the end of the day  :P ) are getting in a way of any major upgrades at the moment... :( Thanks for reading, I'll make sure to type the updates over the weekend  Image

Time for a little update :D

Lola has made an appearance at Ford Fair, where we had absolutely amazing time - too much to see in one day :o 8) 8)

Image

Unfortunately, a crack has appeared on her screen the very morning of Ford Fair, getting bigger on our way there. :( Then Guys ICE test proved to be off the scale and way over what Lola could take and CRACK - it went all the way into the drivers view... So we had no other choice but call Autoglass to get it changed :D Ben turned up today (apparently Gavin doesn't work there anymore...  ), but once he got the screen out, we could see the reason why it has cracked in a first place  RUST - will it ever stop??

Image

Image

This is the worst part... :(

Image

So I told Ben the story of Lola, pleaded for her life and lovely Ben agreed to leave me without the screen so I can fix the surround before he comes back tomorrow to finish the job 8) 8) 8) Lovely :!: Nothing more was needed but my angle grinder out and the fun begins again

Image

I actually got carried away a bit, but when there's a chance who wouldn't??  The fillered hole that has been bugging me forever needs to be fixed too :!:

Image

Just getting my welder out, it's going to be a long night.........

Strange place for it to rust at the top they usually go at the bottom, are you going for a heated front screen seeing as it's being replaced anyway?

The seal was not fitted properly, there was a gap in the sealant up there where the panels join together. I assume that caused the water to be sitting there comfortably hidden in a little sealant well, behind the black screen surround rubber. I know I probably regret this later, but I am having standard screen fitted. :D Reason being is that there is no looms for heated screen in Lola, and when the crack appeared so suddenly, it became illegal to drive her - so I couldn't wait till the loom, swithes etc turnes up somewhere... :(

Here is the dreaded top corner. I'm still shitting myself it's not straight enough for the screen, will see when Ben gets here...

Image

I only welded in little bits of metal to fill in the crack to see if that can fix it, because I'm not good at all in fabricating replacement panels and bits and this would cause quite a problem if it didn't fit   I think I can live with this :D

I also welded a plate behind the hole in the roof , so it's not just a ball of filler making the roof watertight (NOT  ). Grinded and primed the welded bits, and painted the whole surround green of course  If I get some spare time before Ben comes, I will try to filler and smooth the welded hole in the roof, but the primer needs to dry there first  It never dries quickly enough when you need it to...

Image

And I only set a fire to my dashboard once
