Been back to Hoo this afternoon, got some more work done with The Man, Dieselhead!

The 'zorst looking pretty, shame it'll be hidden away under the van! And yes its a slag fitting it- 2 man job defo





I needed a good scrub after that!!!

Tappets are now all adjusted so we are almost ready to fire up! Literally only need a few water fittings(which reminds me i must go in shed!) stick a few hoses here and there, Thermostat needs fitting in housing, and then thats it!!! not long now, vid soon !!

Big thank you due to Tim for all your hard work that has gone into this project, not just mine,the whole LEZ affair!!
Especially as the countless hundreds of hours and pounds that have been spent in the developmental stages, before even getting to a working prototype stage!

sh*t sound quality- from my phone. the high pitch noise is a steel timing gear. live with noise, never shred teeth n smash valves in!!! Nylon gear quiet but may destruct at any time without warning, like cologne v6 too!

just gotta sort out a few leaky core plugs, got new ones, and few minor leaks at fittings where 2 different metals meet, bit of ptfe tape around the threads. wiring for fan needs attention as fan failed to work, will sort these little bits out tomo!

Yeah and Burtons said wont refund due to noise on the website,still got it anyways - but not bothered bout the whine really, like a supercharger whine

last odds and sods done today!
It occurred to me late last night in bed as i lay there sweating my bollocks off that the electric fan i recently got wouldnt be man enough for the Essex, fine in pinto, but the extra 1000 cc s and 2 pistons gets very very very hot! especially as its cast iron!!!
Tim had these kicking around...


now wired up negative switched relay switching the negative side of fans, into a 60A fuse next to battery with thick wire

The two o/s core plugs were fooked. i botched one but leaked still so Tim whipped em out and sikaflexed and drifted home two new plugs. Lucky i got em really and least i got spares!!! Not bad for a 40 odd year old engine!





The test drive was sweet, pulled effortlessly and sounded the tits as i wound up the revs! with the small steering wheel and the steel timing gear noise tis like driving a dodgem rapidly !!! I LOVE IT!!!!

Cannot thank Tim at Light Commercial Services enough, the dude even worked on his birthday ffs!!!! lots of beers for ya at the 'Mania my friend!!!
