Did a bit of welding on a rusty Transit today, just for a change :lol:

The inner rear cross member is now in place so time to repair the floor area, left side was straight forward;

The three holes are where the pillar support panel bolts on.

Next job was to fabricate an inner rear corner panel for the right hand side;
Image

This was made up of a number of parts then welded together so we could install it as one piece. Holes were punched around the edges where 'plunge' welding was necessary.

Then fitted to the van;

and welded in place.

Then we made a replacement channel section for the right rear spring hanger, when we cut the rear cross member out the roof dropped, the rusty outrigger was the culprit :shock:
Here we see the new part tacked in place;

and welded in;

Looking good Tim :)

I assume you got it all re-aligned and I don't have a lowered van now? :lol:

All re-aligned now Matt, once again the Porta-Power earned it's keep :lol:

The floor repair at the rear is now complete, the floor panel is fitted underneath the rear outer valence, so needed to be completed before the valence was fitted.

Firstly an angled flange was made to fit to the inner wheel 'tub', this will support the new floor section;

Next the floor panel was produced, holes were cut where the panel sits on the outrigger flanges and around the inner rear lower corner panel to simplify welding;

The panel was welded in place;

Then painted;

Next up will be the outer rear valence.

Still 'juggling' jobs at the moment, but time was found today to get the rear valance welded on. A bit of filler to hide the welds on the ends and she will be ready for some paint;

I got it back at the weekend (at last!)

I haven't even had a chance to have a good look at what Tim has done, but I am assuming the bits he did were to a high standard. There are bits I asked him to do which he hadn't got round too yet - but I was desperate to get it back!
