An Ex-police vehicle possibly met police ,was used in London as mobile prison van ,very rare police spec glass and would have had the crest on the front doors

Well the transits slowly worked its way to the top of the list and I will be starting it very soon.
For now its doing duty as a office.( got to have somewhere to make a cupa!)
No sorry was defiantly new to the uni. Though I agree it probably is police spec windows, dam things like Fort Knox. Must have had some expensive radio gear in there!

Hello all. Today I took an 30 mins or so to try and figure out what the score is with the drivers door and wing. If you look back at my intro pics you can see that they don’t line up.
Well I started by trying to find out if the wing was bodge and rust.so striped some paint of the damaged area of wing.
Unfortunately my camera decided to eat the pictures, I’ll take some more tomorrow.
Well all I can say is that the area where the mirror is attached to the wing is full of holes, however the bit that looks like its been creased had no filler at all!
It looks like the door has been blown forward so hard its ripped the hinges through the door post and impaled the door onto the wing. The back of the wing had been separated from the door post and the damage welded up. Not to bad but needs tidying.
Hinges are obviously bent as the door lies too close to the body making it look like the wing sticks out.
So iv replaced the lower hinge, that’s made things line up a lot better.
From this stage a bit of filler and some tidying up would probably save the wing and make her look heaps better.
But I’m undecided. There’s nothing like taking the wing off and tidying up underneath. But as we all know, once you start where do you stop!
Also I have no idea if the replacement wings you see are any good.
So I have some questions for you lot.
Are new wings any good? EG do they fit as good as ford?
If I can find a good wing or take this one off and save it should I take the time to remove it and do it all properly? Or just tidy it up and get some use?
Opinions welcome.

Ouch! The rust is quite common on the driver's wing. As the rest of the van is so good, I would do a good repair on it and leave it where it is if I was you. I think the rust has taken hold as it's had an accident as you described.

I think the LWB St John's van was at Southampton when we went for the backbone cruise in 2005. The driver was saying at the time they were looking to replace it at the time, but the expense was the problem, so he had no idea when that would be,

Mate you are not going to get £700 for it on the bridge, so why not get a good price for it, given a bit more time? Any T&T?

It will go over for 350 to 400. I need 700 for the bill I have. I've been offered 200 for the engine from some stock car racing lads.100 for the doors. So its worth 700 or gets scraped. no point offering me 700 on the 23rd. Its over and done with by then. Need the cash by the 21st so I can pay it into bank and get on the phone and make the payment.
This is not something i want to do. But it is what it is.
Since these pictures iv cut out the front xmember and had a new one made. I even managed to buy a gen ford xmember closing panel. Its all ready to weld back on. Hell if anyone wants it I will weld the xmember on for free and make a good job. All its needs to finish is a front wing. Make a nice police look alike.
If I had an alternative I would take it, but a mk2 transit van, no matter how good isn’t worth not paying this bill.

Hey, :( :( there must be someone for that van, for me its perfect, the steps are beautiful, the backdoors and rear valance are briliant. All it needs is some TLC, :D :D it has nothing for its age. I can already seeing it with some wide wheels and a nice metalic colour, 8) 8) if no one wants it in police livery.

I have two people interested in this van, one only contacted me today. If you only come on here every few days and don't leave a contact number I don't think it's going to sell for what you want in the time scale. I would consider it myself BUT I DON'T KNOW HOW TO CONTACT YOU!!!

Just a tip, if you are trying to sell something fast, maybe you should be available by phone
