You don't need to make anything fit unless you really want the grill to mirror the Prefect appearence, you can get the plastic insert chromed, I have two firms in my town that do this, one actually did a lot of the plastic work for Rover...obviously they are still waiting to be paid
You can also get a 'gold' finish as it is all electroplating

Now you have my attention Ive been looking for chrome on plastic electroplating but not for the grill. If you have any web links for this company I would be grateful Mark . As for the grill I would prefer vertical lines in the grill. Fortunatly I have a brother-in-law that works at a stainless steel stockist

i think the grill idea is great infact i love all your ideas and cant wait to see the finished result

re. the wheels,



are they mk4? do you know mk3 wheels are the same but have a wider offset so fill the arches a bit more if you get the chance to get hold of any save em to try, as they might suit it better, most people didnt ever realsie they were any different

Thanks Luke. I didn't know that the Mk3 had a wider offset thanks for the info I will take a trip down the local scrapy. I would love to pick up a set of these MEFCO wheels but very rare

No problem, http://www.borough.co.uk/ this is the one that did the Rover parts. The other one is on the Stock Road Industrial Estate, what it is called I really can't remember. I used to collect and deliver the parts to be plated to this one for a bathroom shop I worked for. When I next go past them I will get the name for you, though I really doubt they will have a website

Been in the garage again tonight. Insides of the front wings have cured nicely

Ive zinc primed the insides and stone guarded it then basecoat will do the face once welded on Ive got the magic paste (heat dissipating paste very good stuff. The door has also dried nice Ive not polish/cut it yet but what a shine

I dougted it at first Andy but its amazing it stops large panels from warping with high heat

When you weld the wing back on, doesn't it need to be metal to metal with no paint

Yes but Im going to drill the holes in the areas supposed and spot/mig weld the wings on and then tiger seal it

Here is me worried about spraying my alloys myself in my garage and your spraying your whole van!!!

Its giving me the balls to give it a try myself, everyone on here seems to be an expert at welding, painting etc.

I suppose if u dont try u will never know!
