Its almost exactly the same...

There is still a bit of crankcase pressure, its still leaking oil (maybe less though). Power is slightly improved but it still doesn't like 5th or 6th

Im still leaning to stuck vanes in the turbo (or similar) - I will probably do that next week

Following repairs I took it out for a little jaunt this weekend...

First was a ~15 mile bedding in run - just a sensible distance up the road to check nothing was going to go pop...

I got back and one of the injector wells had filled with diesel  fortunately it was fairly obvious it was coming from the leak offs. Unfortunately I didn't have any new O rings - so I put a 2nd hand one in and hoped for the best.

I then hooked up the trailer, loaded with one of my other vans (total weight of around 2000kg) and drove to Hitchen for a jolly old cars rally (bullnose morris club) and other than the lack of power in the top gears (would hold 60 though) it was absolutely fine... Its certainly the best or one of the best vehicles I have towed with. There is no comparison with the Land Rovers - this is so much better.

Got to Hitchin and the injector well was dry :D

Anyway, with a bit of load on its got a slight turbo whine and a buzzy noise under boost - so I think there might be a slight boost leak somewhere. I am also getting a MAF sensor value within range but too high message - consistent with the (obviously temporary and for diagnostic purposes only) EGR blanking plate thats fitted.

Im going to knock up a little adaptor to allow me to use the compressor to pressurise the induction system and see if I can find any leaks. I might even make one that allows me to use smoke capsules with it too

I had to play...

Tried another injector learn... and it failed :(

There is something funny going on here.

Ids says try 3 times but also says that doing the learns might not be necessary and they question the validity of the tests

I don't that they can be either dead easy to go through both learns or a nightmare.

Its only the injector learns that are giving issues.

I have got a set in the other van - but I have lost my vlinker so can't programme them in right now.

I've found that programmed or unprogrammed injectors never made that much of a difference in power. A slight smoothness in tickover and less chatter was noticed. But I wouldn't rely on seeing massive power gains. If you feel the van is just not pulling like it should then maybe it's another issue. Get on live data and check map results etc.

The power has slowly been coming back since re-doing the injector seals, but I think its basically where it should be (no idea why). I can now (just) pull from 30mph in 5th. I just need to get the "engine malfunction" message off the dash. I had a bit of a rough running issue, hunting, showing twice desired rail pressure at idle etc so I fitted the SCV from the other van (which I thought was a dodgy one) but all seems well now.

For the MOT (about 6 weeks away) I now need to

Weld the passenger step
Weld the rear corner of the SLD (it seems there are no panels available for this?)
Weld a patch on the offside sill
Replace NS rear hub (noisy bearing).
Front drop links

The handbrake cable between the handle and the adjuster is a bit frayed and won't last forever so I ought to replace that too, and check the front brakes

Otherwise I think all is now ok (except the engine malfunction message).

I found a straight side loading door on ebay yesterday in the right colour and at a sensible price :)

It even down near some of my mates in Kent - I just need to persuade one of them to get it for me....

Nipping down to see my mates in Kent this weekend...

Its (hopefully) going to get its side loading door changed, new drop links, a few bits of welding and a shiny new MOT whilst its there (I also must sort the rear bulb holders out as the fogs don't work at the moment)

I'm a plonker and didn't get any pics :(

Everything I expected got done, the van now has the broken drop link replaced, a new passenger step, the back bottom corner of the side loading door/sill is all new, the hole on the other sill sorted (that one went from a 1" x 3" on the outside only to a 6" x 3" on the outisde and 18" x 6" on the inside) and a better side loading door fitted.

I'm pretty happy :)

But we noticed one of the bushes in the wishbones was shot, and time had run out to get the MOT so its back with me. Both wishbones and bottom ball joints will be replaced, and then it will go in to my MOT station.

We might have been able to get the test on Sunday - but instead it was an adventure out to cornwall (from Kent) to pick up a mk4 LWN high top petrol for my mate. The 568 miles obviously took up all the day! Left at 0550, I got back to my place at about 7pm, he got back to kent at about 9.30pm.
