Cost me another can of spray adhesive tho as I had to take the panel off to cut the holes out.

The sound system now consists of, 2x JVC 5" 150w dual cones, 2x JVC 6" 200w 2way, 2x pioneer (6x9's 3way) 250w (in box) and 2x Wharefdale 12" 400w subs, powered by a cheap n cheerfull 4.3" in dash DVD player with a 360w (total) Mutant Amp and a 140w (total) Kenwood amp That will do for now

Its definately quieter on the road now.......If I turn the stereo down I'm sure it will be quieter still when I have the cash to do the top half

Time for a small update...

These are my giant spacers that bring the rear track out to that of a Mk5 (saves all the hassle of converting the axle ) Many thanks again to AndyG for picking them up for me

Regarding the quietness, how have you quietened the engine?
I have to have my radio on at 25ish just to drown out the noise when Im on the motorway...

I took the rubber mat out of the front several years ago and carpeted the floor,then put the rubber mat back in, that quietened engine noise quite a bit As for road noise, the floor is ply lined under the carpet so that helps. Its still noisier than most though cos of the straight through back box

I think most of my engine noise is coming through the bulkhead.

I think I'll watertight the engine bay and fill it full of jam. That'll quieten it down

The jam will run when it gets hot, use Marmite

I carpeted right up behind the pedals etc, and up to the dash on the other side.

Time for a small update..

As some of you will already know, I had a major ATF leak from the gearbox front seal It got so bad it was using 1 litre every 8-10 miles So with the help of 'AndyKay' and 'The Big Fact Hunt' I had an engine crane to borrow and do the job, there's no way I could have done it laying on my back again, once is enough!!

Here's the engine and box floating above the engine bay..


It took me about 11 hours all told and I am still suffering for it

In the previous few weeks I thought I ought to get a few bits done ready for the summer season, so I started by finding a decent covering for the front door panels, the best I could come up with was speaker box carpet Its very versatile stuff Hidden behind the carpet are a pair of 5" JVC 150 speakers.
I also needed some new door pockets, so after a morning trawling around Albert Looms Scrap Yard in Derby I settled on pockets from a Rover 100, I knew they would be too long but the depth was exactly what I was looking for It just so happens that the angle of the speaker pod on the end of the Rover pockets was the exact angle I needed to cut them down at to look right on my doors..sweet



A few weeks ago I was trawling ebay and came accross a scorpion stainless 'twin up-swept' back box, the woman had no idea what she was selling, it was brand new and I got it for the bargain price of £10.25

I had no intention of changing the exhaust but I couldnt resist at that price, so Havin measured up and realising it was 6" too long I set about cutting the tail pipes off and shortening them before welding them back on again
I reckon it looks pretty good!.
