Thanks for the encouragement folks Big step forward today Roof is now on Its just tacked at the moment, I have been using an old hinge on the A pillar to help me with lining it all up. Even so it has been a day of measuring, measuring again and then cutting. Its all worked in the end though Next I will fit the doors and when I am satisfied with all the gaps being right I will weld it all together.

Well today was a lot of fiddling about for not much noticeable progress..... But now the doors fit the holes and open and close The roof is welded properly and after endless farting about jacking pillars and adjusting hinges all the body contours line up

Mate, a lot of fiddling = roof welded, wing on and the doors all lined up? Hats off to your work, you will be done very soon. First glance I did think you was insane (kind of thought - surely there's a mk2 out there in better nick) but looking really good now. Keep it up.

Thanks again chaps I did think to begin with that it wasnt worth the effort, however I havent seen a mk2 crew spec lift lately and as I drove one for the AA in the eighties I figured what the heck I have even sold my beloved Bandit 6 to finance the project so now even the missus thinks I am mad I think I may even paint it Daytona Yellow, what do you think?
And just to add to the mental idiot side of things, remember this thing needs a diff, propshaft, kingpins, brake master, discs, oh and another engine Oy! who are these blokes in white coats....where are we going?

Yes I think black roof and poss a black section between the top of the wings/doors and the bottom of the bulge that runs down the side I will paint the wheels black centres with yellow rims.

Been to Good old Freds today to do a bit on her lutons. Came back with a load more bits for old Mutters. Fuel tank, mirrors etc. This is a big thank you to Fred for her invaluable help and knowledge without which I would not be getting anywhere fast Cheers Fred

I had a few spare hours today so I endulged in a little theraputic welding. I am fabricating a big rig style front bumper. I need it to be strong enough to serve as a recovery anchor point and also to be able to push dead motors around This is it so far





Main mounting irons!






Basic frame construction.





Coming together, this one will be removeable not like Muttley II
Strengthening at corner. I will build another super strong frame to take the front mounted towball and the anchor eyes. I may build a mount for a front mounted winch to be fitted at a later date. The whole thing will be covered with 1mm plate with 1.5mm ally tread plate on the top face Thanks for looking, Andy.

are you gonna put some more braces on i was thinking you could mabe put some struts on the btm edge of the bumper braced up to the spring hangers to stop the btm from bending back

you should fit some stacks behind the cab too to complete the look

Thanks mate, yes there will be more mountings and bracing to come I ran out of box section today but the bottom rail of the frame will be attached to the chassis near the front spring hangers. I cant do it yet because I intend to rebuild the hangers with 1mm plate first
