A crew cab would be nice but it will not hapen. The plan has changed a little bit, I will not cut the cabin straight over the doors and use the front end for my -79 truck, apperently the truck and the bus are a bit different in the framework. The frame is more visable in the cabin on the truck than on the bus



Here you can see the frame, will get a picture of the bus tomorrow..

Instead I will cut out the inner arches on both sides and the front light supports on both sides from the bus. The very front of the frame will be used from the bus, the part beow the radiator. It will be a lot of work to fit it in but it must work somehow.

binning = throwing away how much do you want for them - i am interested (if they are in very good condition) but i dont know if postage cost from sweeden to UK will be expensive

Ok, now I understand you. Do you need the windows for both sides ?
I have no idea how to send things to England, but I suppose it should be possible..
I have a total of eight transit doors, at least two of them are so rusted they will be binned soon.
I can check the postage cost if you want.

Little update with new pictures, today I began to cut parts from the -82 bus. I started with the lower left corner of the windscreen ( Is it called windscreen frame perhaps ???) and continued with the inner acrch an headlight support on the drivers side. A lot of work drilling all the spot weldings out but it worked out fine in the end.




Here you can see the floor of the bus and as you can see the frame isn't visable as in my truck.

What a mission, for some reason I have missed this thread up to now. You are doing an amazing job. That bus you cut up though wouldn't be thought of as that bad in the UK! Your rust is all too familiar though, and like ooee said if you fancy a holiday in London, feel free to drop in, but bring your welder .............

Thank's for the invitation however I will probably never look at a welder again when ( if? ) the truck is ready.

The bus was not impossible to save but it was imported from Norway without the registration papers so it was the only thing to use it as parts.

The bus is very bad in the cabin from the doors and back.

It's very hard to get new body panels for transit here in Sweden, I managed to get hold of the sill uder the door and the door steps but the front fenders had gone out of stock. I bought the fenders ( both sides) from a guy who had got them a long time ago but never finished the renovation of his Transit.

I don't think so, you must be able to prove where you have gotten the car from and without the proper papers it might be hard. As Norway isn't a part of the European Union it's not as easy to import from Norway as from for example Germany or the Netherlands.

Time for another update. The last few weeks really has been very hot here in Sweden so there hasn't been much done in my workshop.

However the -82 bus has been more cut to pieces, the engine and gearbox is now lifted out. Here is some pictures.



The engine bay is empty, will make it easier to cut out the parts for the cabin.

The top of the frame will be re-used on my -79 truck, the spot weldings are removed.

The front end of the frame will also be used on my -79 truck, it was in perfect condition on the -82 bus.

More or less all the parts that i need to begin welding is now cut out of the -82 bus, only the upper corners of the windscreen area and the area between the window and the door step, where the door hinges are mounted (see picture below..)



This is all for now, next step in the project will be removing engine and gearbox from the -79 truck so i can begin to fit the new parts.
