Thanks guys for all the tips :D I have packed all you suggested + some more bits like prop bearings and extra wheel and tow rope

I'm supposed to have some RAC cover provided by my insurance and another one by my bank, but don't know how much I will be able to rely on it (you never know until you need it, isn't it... ). Last year when she had to be towed home, it was also with RAC and all was quite painless, but that was in the UK. Don't know if there is other option for me to get breakdown cover, since Lola is over 15 years old and therefore considered as unsuitable for cover  AA quoted me almost £250 which is just not worth it, since I'm not planning on breaking down nor breaking my bank (or into it) And if she does leave me somewhere, I'd rather pay that to a friend from home to come and get my stuff from her and try and get her sorted with my cable ties or a hammer

Don't jinx it - we'll be just fiiiiine

I use Autonational rescue, total cover for anywhere in Europe, for my car AND Van (which is older than yours) for £99.

I've not had to use them yet though :D

Thanks Rover, but the policy you have must be based on your car (and van added) or via some other route because as it stands - they will not take Lola. And EU cover is provided by someone else and they do not cover vans, motorhomes, etc at all :( So - no go there either. I don't understand this system at all, RAC is the same - they'll cover me since it's a deal by my insurer and bank, they will come out and do whatever is needed when I called them, but if I try and get the cover directly from them - it's impossible... Thanks anyway :D

How strange is that :? I didnt realise the van wouldnt be covered abroad.....its a good job I'm not going then

You are correct, the van was added to the one for the car, I only added the van 5 years ago when I started using it for camping.

Well finally have some solid(ish) internet connection, so some little updates...

Lola survived the journey  8) 8) and more amazingly - so did I  It took us mere 30 hours to get here, but we did not suffer almost any problems on the journey at all. Only - we lost the indicators about 20 miles into the journey on M25  I suspect the relay, but wasn't able to look at it yet, as I rather not touch electrics otherwise I'll end up with non starter    So we managed the whole 1000 miles without indicators - yeah, it was fun

Then somewhere in France my bumper cups decided they don't want to hold on anymore and got lost - nevermind, I put it down to our amazing speed of 65mph   BUT - the most amazing surprise was after the first fuel stop - Lola managed to do 572 miles on one tankfull  8) 8) I'm well pleased. Max speed 85.4mph in Germany (of course) and we got stopped by German police - I think they only wanted to see my rust bucket up close

My biggest mistake was forgetting the Europe map at home... Yeah, I know, but that can happen to me quite easily, I was happy I didn't forget my passport. Sooo I decided to do our good old "ZEN navigation" - find first vehicle with home Slovakian numberplates on, travelling at around my speed and stick to it's ass hoping that the driver is heading "home"   It works quite well, I found a lorry travelling 60 - 65 mph (I think he was in a hurry) with Slovakian numberplates (my home town too  ) and I got glued to his behind following him happily. Of course - with my luck- he wasn't heading home exactly, and I ended up in some lorry depot in Germany, shouting at the lorry driver how dare he not head home on Friday   He was laughing at me (of course), made some coffee and off I went looking for another familiar numberplates on German roads  Well, what can I do, it was fun, even tho it threw me about 50 miles off course...

So - here we are, working on the bathroom already, and looking forward to our journey back  Let's hope it'll go as smoothly! :o

Thanks guys, I'm well pleased 8) Before I went for this trip, I thought that Lola is doing really well on fuel, but this journey convinced me - just over 1100 miles and still under two tankfulls 8) 8) Happy bunny
