Bit of sound proofing when the engine was out, came from a local supplier, will confirm if its at all helpful when the engine is back in.

Chief engineer says Mutts has passed on oil cover and looks like a fitting tomorrow :)

Ralph9 has stepped up big time with a pair of fantastic looking springs, they will get a spruce tomorrow :) :) :)

Just how exciting can this get!!! :)

Right, my friendly group of experts, we have the following conundrum and only tomorrow afternoon to get this and everything fixed for camping and weekend away on friday. I wont bore you with detail, needless to say, this is a marked and significant weekend, going quickly down the pan...

Chief engineer has listened intently but doesnt understand my inept description.

Having put the engine back in, i had a constant alternator light. Eventually the alternator lead also melted through on the exhaust manifold. For some reason, puk stopped yesterday, no lights, no nuffin. Brought new battery today and fitted. Still nuffin. Created an earth with a jump lead, still nuffin...nothing at all. The only thing i can find that may be a clue is this lead...anyone got any thoughts please???

on the Mk2 theres a main connection block in the glove box that can go at any time from rolling off the production line and more than once in 20 years. Its the first loom junction after the starter. Dunno if there is anything like it on the Mk1.

Jono ,presuming g that you have a negative earth on that van,one of those cables tags to the engine somewhere and the other to the bodywork or chassis.Clip your jump lead to the negative battery terminal and connect to bodywork or chassis, clip the other jump lead to the engine somewhere, manifold or clean area and try that.

hi jonno, on our mk1 the wire you have hold of in the pic is fixed to the bulk head above the battery, behind your washer bottle bag thing :D. our camper has a lead from batt to starter solenoid but then a smaller wire from solenoid that feeds all the electrics have look see if thats snapped off. sounds abit daft but did you check the fuses.

So...chief engineer turns up, spends 3 minutes updating me on rig testing and starts it. Turns out to be a connector from the live terminal touching the battery shelf and shorting. All doned, no damage! Rear springs fitted (thank you Ralph) dizzy and tuning done (thank you robbiemate) and guess what!!!

Puk is now a proper project completed, almost a year to the day! Works list almost complete. Nuffin left to moan about...

Thank you all soooo much for your kindness, caring and support. I almost set alight to him yesterday when he was camped! Excited to see you all at Transitmania and have a chillax this year. I have learnt so much my head hurts.

I dont mean it rudely but i hope the panic posts are over now and its business as usual to keep her/him going!!! Enjoy your projects, enjoy the summer :) :) :)

Regards
Jon
