Not sure on the actual order but...spigot bearing gave up, the oil leak was from the third cylinder through a port near the outlet manifold and the engine mountings gave up. Newtome engine 75% there, hoping to finish tomorrow...wales looking highly likely! :) :)

Ok, so Diesel came up absolute trumps with the engine. The Chief engineer worked his bits off last week to put it in. Came from DH with a couple of extra goodies inc mk 3 engine mounts and a couple of mounts for the gearbox. Had to hire an engine hoist and work started in earnest i think it was thurs afternoon. Sorry its all a bit vague now as its been a bit of a weekend!

Old engine came out. As said rear oil thingy at the back looked like it was leaking and there was a major leak from the third valve that was oozing. Old engine out, new engine lined up. Took friday off and did the best i could. Fit the clutch, had a play with the gearbox, sadly the new mounts wouldnt fit the engine and raised it too high. Some deliberation on thurs night meant it went in on the old mounts minus the extra nuts...result!!!

Friday saw everything finish. Drove it friday night and the mounts for the gearbox meant it was bouncing in the hole...after careful and considered thought they came off. The engine was still a bit low and the box was banging on the front member. So, mounts off and gearbox lifts...so should engine methinks...

So friday afternoon, mvm works hard again. Then saturday had a go at taking off the rubbers from the gearbox, Gearbox up, engine lifted, all looking good. Outside under van working away to make sure gearbox was safe, even double nuts on the mountings so it didnt drop (did have that with the rubber mounts, so learning hat on).

Heard a couple of kids, about 12/13 go by, thought nothing of it. Then realised theyd snatched my work mobile which was next to my tools on the floor! Lots of expletives, jump in the van chase after them. No sign, knock on a few doors, everyone clams up. I know he lives round here and i know his face. Now worried that i cant make too much of it as i have more to lose than him.

Swing into a car park area and there is a massive water burst. The front screw of the water pump housing had screwed a hole through the rad. Off to breakers, new rad. Phone advice helpline, chief mechanic says maybe grind of end. Take all apart, grind off end. Try again. Smaller holding bolts make hole in replacement rad. Seems to happen on bouncing but spacing looks ok when stopped.

So, new engine looks great but needs tappets sorted. Rad area needs work to stop fouling on water pump. Engine and gearbox alignment needs checking. Have had to put the kids off their summer holiday with me til next weekend, but ex has booked france a week after so this is the last chance now.

Everyone has been so helpful, i still have some hope for this turning out well. There were lots of tears and disappointment yesterday but mvm still has a few tricks up his sleeve and was great with the kids. Dh did so well with the engine and the messages of support were so helpful. If i have ever contacted you though, please pm your number as they are all lost now.

To add insult to injury they tried to break into puk again on friday night...

Will keep you avid readers informed. For those of you that have been on the journey with me for the last year, you will see my own amazement at some of the things i have learnt and accomplished over the last couple of weeks. But i wish it was all done now. Robbis, if i ever get further than bicknacre puk is on her way to you to have that alarm fitted as soon as i can :)

And if anyone asks, the 205 is slightly larger than the 200 and may not be a straight swap...
