The jag has an independent rear end so using the axle isn't an option, and as for the dash/clusters i could use mondeo clocks and do away with the jag ones (but wheres the fun in that!)

Im assuming the speedo on yours robbie is driven from a sensor on the gear box? The jag may well be the same as it does have a speed sensor on the gearbox but whether this is enough for the the speedo to run on were not quite sure yet :?

If its three wires its a squarewave generator...makes pulses for speedo... could prob make the abs happy too

and i bet the jag diff is better ratio too

Are they seperate? Looks like if they are they might work quite well as a front seat.

Hey all just thought id refresh this thread as ive not up dated it for a while, well there ist much to update you all on with regards to the van, I haven't done anything with it as ive been ploughing throug the jag to get to the looms etc..........there is just so much bloody car to go through!
The interior is out and most of the dash is out just got to remove the main part of the dash so I can then get to the ecus, once thats out we can start thining the wiring out and isolating the engine ecu.

Sorry there isn't much to report after such a long time but its still an ongoing thing and will keep you updated when somthing interesting happens ;)

Is the jag still running in full power mode? I hope you are keeping a list of what wires go and what stays...

Yes its still running/driving no loss of power (can still get it sideways lol) the abs is disconnected which in turn knocks the speedo off too as it runs off the abs sensors and 1 on the gearbox (we think it calculates an average speed from the 5 sensors) the aircon is disabled as is most of the dash.

DodgeRover wrote:@pocketrocket does your jag have the VVT on it?

Yes it does, so 240bhp (well probs lost a few ponys over the years) but we'll see if we can up it a bit with de-cats and a good service etc......

Sorry for the late reply, the cars at work so no been touched all over the xmas break, will be dismantling majority of the dash tomorrow night, ive been reliably informed that the cluster can be unplugged an plugged back in without any problems, its when a new cluster is introduced the problems arise as it needs to be paired up at jaguar.............but ill find out tommorw :D

Hi there, my preliminary research suggests that disconnecting the cluster will interupt the 'start curcuit', but have a go and test this. If you find this to be the case I can PM you what I believe to be an immobiliser 'by-pass', be interesting to find out if it 'works'
