Sorry about the repeat pictures but for some reason I upload them once they appear twice.

Yesssss, it's passed. Apart from a horn that refused to work (I was allowed to quickly check it, clip had just come loose), it passed.
Going to wait till the 1st to Tax it. I can wait a couple more days before i'm on the road.
Took some all round pics which i'll upload now. Very pleased. All the work has been worth it, even though there are still a few jobs I want to do yet, but for now they can wait.
Next job is to get it to a weighbridge so I can know what it weighs (privately obviously)

All you need now in pic 2 n 3 is a 6.6 trans am and a load of crashed '70s yank police cars. The tilt n slid looks better than the beaver tail. N

Turned up to the a job and the winch that had always worked decided not to, right there with the bed down ready to pull up the car. Suffice to say job had to be abandoned till another time. Anyway, winch was taken to local electrics repairer and £60 later, it was rebuilt and is working now.
Will see how it goes. Came close to just biting the bullet and buying a new winch from ebay but if this works then i'd rather save the cost of a new one.

Here's a couple of jobs I did. My first out of town job and the truck drove well.

As well as unladen weight I would try and check the load on the rear axle, it looks like the load is carried fairly well back so it going to be carried mainly on the rear, not trying to be negative but if you are carrying for money and get stopped at a checkpoint it could be a really bad day for you :(

Can't really explain why but it just looks heavy even without a car onboard...

Maybe its because it's a tilt and slide on a Transit so looks unusually heavy? Maybe it's the rear arches that I mounted a little lower down t not leave so much of a gap. I don't know neither, and no I do not want to be having a bad day. What does everyone else think, maybe there are some alterations I can make to make it look lighter? Any ideas welcome.

You could try adding a big sticker that says aluminium... or a weight watchers of the year award badge! (for the truck that is lol).

Could you not fit 7.5 ton leaf spring from an iveco or something don't know if it would make any difference just thought they may not bend as much when loaded. N

Do you think it would fit? Would add more weight but with ass in the air it might look lighter lol

Don't know if leaf spring from another van would fit, how do they work my van has a single leaf where others have multiple so is it the more leafs you have on the spring the more weight you can carry. N

Well latest is, I was on route to pick up my friends car 30 miles out when I started hearing a sound like a rattling bolt coming from the engine.
I was on the motorway approaching a roundabout so I came of the round about and pulled over on a slip road joining another motorway to see what's up.
Engine stopped suddenly. The engine had locked up. The timing belt was intact. It figures because after changing almost everything on this truck to repair it, the engine & box were what were left. After calling the AA, I went straight unto ebay looking for a van I could buy with the 2.5 turbo engine to replace the slower noisier lump that had just become ill.

Just listed was an ex police P reg Riot Transit van with the engine in it. The seller asked for £500 no offers. I figured i'd take it as he said the engine was perfect. Well later on in the evening once the AA had recovered us and i'd arranged a lift, I picked up the van and it was quicker on the test drive and much quiet. My mechanic friend said engine sounded ok but had a tiny nervous twitch here and there. Seller explained it had been parked up for many months but guarantees it's been well looked after. I bought it and driving back the engine light was on (red) and it would not accelerate past a certain point so stayed at 50mph all the way back. I'm thinking maybe it's gone into limp home mode?

Anyways i'll be looking to removing my engine and replacing it with this and transfer over my Bosch pump.
Incidentally the 2.5di spun with a socket on the crank but locks up at a certain point. Could it have dropped a valve? Any ideas?
