Bit more rust removal and treatment and painting done, drivers side shock and hub etc painted and new disk. Wish bone rear bush replaced using a lump hammer, chisel and gallons of hate.

Chassis legs painted with red lead and rustoleum substitute.

Be able to build it all back up soon and have it rolling.
Final furlong on the undercarriage 8)

Bit more, I'm on the turnaround, but while the front cradle is off I can drop the engine down to give me loads more access to the top.
Bit of oil getting down and around the engine, not a lot but enough to annoy me.

Suspect it's rocker cover gasket. Top seals look ok,but damp but no pooling.

Inlet manifold is very clean indeed. Map pipe clear enough save a thin layer of crude.

All date stamps 06, condition is excellent.(98k miles)

Removed the glow plugs easily and they look like new, 1 was a dead short and 3 dead.

2 front injector copper washers were 50% pummeled/pened over. 2 back are nice.

Called quicko they said don't buy until u check the rocker cover breather. But the price of parts are absolutely ridiculous and a full rocker cover £450 the top injector seals for eg. £50 each  inlet manifold square seals £6.50 for 1. Copper washers £16 for 1 i think.

Ebay it is then.

The chaos legs are painted etc and it's all ready to go do together, waiting for bits though but I'll spend a good few hours on it this weekend, would have liked to remove the engine and give it a once over but I'll just have to do that when it needs a new clutch. I can spend all my money and time replacing the whole lot but I need to be logical. Rocker seal£30 at ford it's a fooking glorified elastic band :x

Been getting broken car jobs recently so I've neglected the foreskin. :(

Got a few hours on it tonight.

Tpuk parts came, the seals were stamped with 6c numbers which is nice, but someone had stolen a spring from 1 which I might have missed if it wasn't for the finger hole in packet :x I gave them a bollocking. I also send the new pas pump back as it was nothing like the original and the return pipe metal union fell off.

Anyway I fitted new glow plugs and o rings and copper washers and rocker cover seal and injector seals and I cut the injector seats etc using my cutter and pictures using the endo scope.

Happy days, o rings were thicker and I chafed a bit off forcing the pipes on,i assume it's an interference seal

I cleaned all the parts and checked the carrier for damage etc and I carefully put the pipes etc all back together and zip tied the cables and pushed the clips etc all back to how it was originally, bit time consuming but I like the as new look

Front nearly completed now,fun removing it all and snapping the grounding bolts off etc then trying to recall how it all goes back. All nicely painted. But since the obvious was sat in front of me i decided it'd be just my luck to put it all back then the chain go. So I took the cover off for a look. Tbh there's only light wear and the tensioner is only retracted about 50% and the teeth on the ratchet and Pawl are really good. But do I replace it anyway? But I my genuine if I do. But they're expensive no doubt.bloody ford.

Right I've decided that there isn't much wear on the timing kit too justify spending a lot. The parts are all genuine too so it'll probably outlast any pattern parts I buy.
I used light emery on the crank sprocket to remove the light burring.

I've ordered pattern timing cover, crank oil seal and glue.

I also had this lying around and thought it'd be a nice little job.

Well it f** wasn't

Nice spin on filter, I’ve got one of them on my fanny.

Mr Andz is the man to ask about timing chains.

I've text him so we'll see.

I'll keep the timing kit for now, bought a new cover, seals and glue etc.

Also bought water pump gasket and vacuum pump gasket . :P

Evening all, bit more tonight. Carpet up, vacuumed and brushed, panel wipe the lot clean, hammerite it all then hose and brush the floor liner. It is really good nic with no wear, it could do with a final wipe with product. Any recommendations welcomed 8)
