i'm a long way from sydney, probably 1000kms havent been there myself yet either.
there a lot of Transits converted to icecream or hot food vans though, but the older ones are getting rare.

well, bit more work today

finished off the brakes, see the pic of the diff oil soaked linings,
good secondhand set were fitted, and new brake lines on the front.

the heater fan works when hooked to striaght 12v.. got to sort out the wiring there still.
the heater box was absolutly full of leaves, vacuumed what would be close to a bucket full from there, and a redback spider and nest too, not something you want blowing onto your face from the vents.

i'll put some flywire/shadecloth accross the vent under the bonnet i think, not really intersted in cleaning it out from leaves or spiders again.

also fitted a number plate light, the originals are there, but not working and cant work with the current bumper fitted anyway,
tightened the couple of loose bolts that were picked for RWC.

all i really need to do now is finish the headlight wiring and horn relays then get the dash working and back together, polish the windscreen marks, and fix some rust spots.
could happen pretty quick from here.

it had HQ holden Kingswood brake lines fitted when i got it(suiting the HQ caliper), they fit easy, but are about 100mm too long
i just got new hoses made up to suit the application, only cost $50 the pair anyway and i doubt i'll need to replace them in the next 20 years

nice day here for working on the van again today.

just got the Falcon heater fan resister working outside the heater box, need to make the hole bigger to fit it, but thats another off the list

on investigation i need to now fix up the vent control cables, none work like they should.

should get the headlight wiring done today,
want to have the horn and washer working also, then i can refit the front panels and be done there.

if all goes well. i should only have rust to do in a weeks time. then its ready for the road.

well, i have to redo my headlight relay, the relay itself is damaged.
will fit 2 Falcon ones(this transit is becoming Falcon more Falcon every day)

the fan resister works fine, probably more reliable.
the rust under the left windscreen is worse than i expected, but still fixable easy enough,(especially after seeing some others on here fixed)

should spend a few more days next week ficing a few things

Hi, long time no progress here. heaps of distractions, and bad weather.

just about to start spending more time on it again.
think i have bitten off more than i can chew with this idea with the dash, but i will be looking at some point after the rego/rwc is done.

needs a bit of trimming of the metal dash, and the falcon dash pad, but its not far off(will need some cutting and welding of the metal for sure)
still thinking about the falcon steering column mated to the transit steering shaft too. would make life much easier, and its collapsable.(not that i want to test that out.)

Hey there...How's it going?...or are you still at a stall point?.....Oh...and I can't resist this......'there was a redback in my heater box, when I went there last night.
I couldn't see it in the dark, but boy I felt it's bite!!'

Damn, sure it was a redback? thought they need hospital?
those black spiders that make nests in the windows of houses are everywhere in mine at the moment.
i just built a garage, winter was too cold to be doing outside work where possible.
i decided to fix my ute(XF falcon) as it would be far quicker, then the transit is next in there. maybe in a month, should see some progress one way or another.

No Arachnid altercations for me....I just got inspired by the spiders in your Transit venting system to rework the classic 'redback on the toilet' seat song to suit your story...Victoria..Australia....I'm one of 'those' citizens who ran away to Queensland..so I understand the weather predicament.
I'll keep an eye out for when you're able to get back into it.
