got some wheel trims coming to tidy it up

take the floor up and clean to bare white paint and spray back stone chip on to stop it rotting
take the back drivers side wood sheet to push a dint out on the back window panel

got some 2k white do to the back doors and back wheel archs and front bonnet and grill thats that done

bad points

Re: mk4 swb semi intys89 got smoke inds badboy bonnet and grill!

Postby intransit89 » Fri Nov 14, 2008 12:09 am

right then on this one iam doing a other badboy bonnet ie the white one that was on it i been hiting the edge of the steel where its got a 2cm bend so its bend over back on to the steel thats the edge as i rember guy88 saying its need to be like this so you dont cut your head open i did this with the red bonnet too thats going back on the orange one when i finshs this red one in primer and painted in orange :D

tomorow night iam browing the markita metal electic cutter from to cut my steel to shape ready to weld them on the white bonnet for next week evenings to pass time on as its dark when i come home from work

the plan is to keep the orange painted bonnet for a recovery ie if the bonnet fails mot on the orange one so i have a normal one to put back on haha

you most likely ripped the retaining clip off cos you didnt wind the hand brake off, or release the auto brake lining adjuster. a lip will have formed on the drum, snagged on the shoes and then bust the retaining clip.

before you refit the drums it is a good idea to remove the lip from the drum. this can be done with a grinder, but you must be careful and not stray onto the working face of the drum. the corrct way to skim a drum is to put it up in a lathe, but for god sake dont attempt it yourself..............

btw, i agree with you about the cost of industrial gasses. i use a 10l beverage co2 cylinder at a rental cost of £5.69 per 3 months including VAT. refill is a tenner. i have not had a refill in a couple of years.................BOC for a size Y argosheild (argon/co2 - the correct one!!) - about 4 times bigger cylinder is 62 quid + vat. refill is arround 40 odd quid. you should not be using as much gas as you do.
you need a flow meter set to arround 8 - 10 litres per minute, check all your connections with soapy water.
