not much of a update

I have sold one of my fun cars to fund sortin the van out and after calling all the van breakers I can not find the abs parts that I need and the council warden has been looking at the van so it has to be moved very soon or they will tow it away for no tax.

the plan I have is to buy a new van ( of a club member if I can ) with long mot and to take my van apart and make 1 good van from 2

so if anyone has a good van with some mot let me know. I only have up to £400 to spend tho

thanks for the pics mate.

anyway we poped to the scrap yard yesterday to see if they had a transit with ABS as we still needed a front hub with abs. as we got out of the car we see this transit high top sat at the back of the cars for sale bit outside the scrap yard so I asked the guy what tax and mot it had and he said mot till next month and tax for the next 4 months. so I say how much thinking it would be £500 to £800 and he said £375. so as you do we gave it a good look over. what we found was a very good van with not alot of rust at all. all 4 arches are as good as new, sills both sides are spot on. the steps are just startin to go with only a very small spot that needs to be welded and a small bit that needs doing on the rear floor.

well anyway we asked for the keys to look inside it and to see how well it runs and this is were we see why it was cheap. it started up and did not sound good at all so we stoped looking and told the guy we would maby pop back when the boss was there and then we went home.

back at home we start thinking we have a very rusty van that is to small to turn into a camper that has a new engine with not alot of miles on it and we could still not get hold of the parts we needed to get a mot on it so why dont we take the engine out and put it in the high top we see at the scrap yard ? so we count up what cash we have and yep I did not have that much so my good lady says will this van pass a mot. both me and dave say it dont need much welding and she gives us the extra cash. so all was good

so today we go back to the scrap yard and see the boss and and give the van a very very good look over and see why it sounded so bad the day before. the exhaust has snaped on the down pipe. the scrap yard boss who knows me and my old man well said for me to take it for a drive so I did. other than it sounding like a tank it drives very well. much better than my low top.

anyway I say I will give you £300 and he said no but he sliped out that it cost him £200 8) so I said well there you go then £100 profit and he said yes.

so what have I got for £300

its a 1996 N reg lwb high top. with good doors not alot of rust 3 owners and its got 168.0000 on the clock.

as we now have 2 transit vans we plan to make 1 very good one out of 2 with lots of spares.

there will be lots of updates from now on

yep will do mate. any parts that dont fit like the low top back doors will get put up for sale on here cheap

well anyway a small update. today I have took the home made bulk head out as I have 2 seats to go in the front and I want to get from the front of the van to the back with out getting out of the van.

also I had a bit more of a poke under the van in a hunt for rust and all I can find is a bit on the floor at the back and a small bit next to the bump stop. also the rear shocks are had it. not a prob tho as I have 2 new ones that I got for the other van.

tomorrow I am going over to northampton to daves place to start tacking all the bits of the old van
