Im putting my 2.0ltr high compression Pinto back in, as im keeping the 3.0ltr for my other van. The pinto is a lovely engine with super low mileage and a brand new twin choke weber, and ive recently had it professionally tuned up and the carbs rejetted and set up. It will also have new radiator and starter motor and alternator and come with a recently fitted clutch.

Another nice day today, so finished off cutting hole for toilet cassette door.

Image

And fitted door, was really pleased with the fit.

Image

Cassette slid in easily.

Image

Next i needed to see if the hob and sink cupboard will fit in the space, and if the fridge would fit in. It needed to go back in where the old one came out from as i didnt want to move the flue and vents. The unit had a small cupboard between the left hand cupboard and the fridge. I need to have the fridge tight against the cupboard as picture.

Image

Image

It wont be too difficult to move the cupboard door over, i doubt i can put the small cupboard back in as the unit oversails the gas locker door.

Image

Next i lined the rear wall and the lower half of the kitchen area, and cut out for the vents

The overhead locker out of the caravan needed to be shaped to fit the roof profile and offered up so i could fit extra noggins

I have cut the top section of ply but will have to do that next weekend.

Was going to reline my walls with 1" celotex from wickes or 1" polystyrene like what was there before.
Your's seems to be taking shape really quick. Looks like a pro job on the interior m8.

The trouble with relining the walls as original is putting the strength back in, as they are a bonded sandwich construction. Thats why i timber framed in front of it and glued noggins in, seemed the simplest solution to me anyhow.

Surprising how quickly it takes shape, but it is all in the preparation, that seems to take forever.
Taylor fitting the units is now the time consuming bit, they have to fit before i can fully line the interior and build walls.

I cant beleave it, i found a small patch of damp on the ceiling! It can only be getting past the mastic on the roof trim or coming in a pin hole on the roof, so out comes the flashing and i run it down the whole side of the roof and more mastic along the edge where the trim is.

Image

I have just ordered a proper roof cover for it now, just in case. The trouble with the tarp is it wasnt quite long enough and it was blowing in under the end and running down the roof and pooling.

So now i started back on the inside and lined the top half of the kitchen wall, after fitting noggins for the cupboard and running some cable for the light.

Image
Image

I had to profile the cupboard corner some more and then offered that up, and fixed into place.

Image
Image

The end panel i will sort when i see how much timber i have left over, then graft a piece on for the roof profile.

So, now to see if i can get the kitchen unit to fit around the fridge. I took out one of the cupboard upright sections and moved the other one over and hung the door on after i trial fitted the other doors so as to get the gaps right.

Image

You will also notice i removed one of the seat boxes and the chest of drawers and trial fitted them to make sure i had enough room for them to fit.

Image

I had to cut back the legs on the end of the kitchen unit and fit the chest of drawers in its place, slightly cutting the bottom of them to go over the wheel arch. They are not tall enough so i will have to infill a plinth.

Image

The back of the drawer unit will now be the gas bottle locker, probally at the expence of one of the drawers, ill have to fit a smaller bottle now and enclose it. There is already a hole in the floor for the vent.

Next week, weather permitting i will run the gas pipe in and line the rest of that wall, so i can fit the furniture for real.

Its been been 3 weeks since i last posted, and i would love to say ive done loads, but work just keeps getting in the way, ive had to work the previous weekends, so this weekend was the only time i had, and you guessed it.......It rained!!

But what i did do, is to batten out the remainder of the passenger side wall and fit extra noggins for the overhead locker.

Image

My main problem was the locker was much too long to fit over the window and was the wrong profile to fit on the ceiling.

So i marked up a straight line across the top and cut it down to size and cut the locker down to 2 instead of three cupboards.

Image
Image

I then moved over the end panel and upright section and screwed together.

Image

Then glued a new section to one side to square it of, ready for trimming.

Image

And that is as far as i got before it pissed it down, Hopefully better luck next week
