Started sheeting it out



the bracing is temporary

Engine cover is all done( appart from dynamat and carpet) finished all welding, removed the braces and all seals good, fits spot on and looks the part

Got these trick little latches from a boating supplier (not cheap) but they're adjustable and work great


Sprayed it with some metal surface sealer and thats it




Next thing will be stripping the bay reinforcing the front suspension mounts and fitting a later model brake booster/master cyl set up and then PAINT

Changed my brake booster and master cyl today

The booster/M cyl i used is from a 97 ford falcon i chose this unit as it has the right bore sizes to suit the transit 175 front calipers and the rear brake setup that im using it also has an internal poportioning valve and is cheap and easy to service

Fitting was fairly simple, I had to drill two new holes in the transit booster mount, change the flare nut on the rear brake pipe and extend the booster pushrod and change the end that fits to the brake pedal

Appart from some reshaping there was no other mods made to the front brake pipes

Thansit booster on left, the pushrod on the new booster was some 20mm shorter


Extended Pushrod with transit rod end, This was done by drilling a hole down the center of the new pushrod and tapping in a beheaded bolt and then tig welded into place
Doing it this way gives more strength than a but weld and wont snap under a heavy foot


Completed job, it took me about 3 hours to do this swap

Just been playing around in the engine bay filling holes, bracing the suspension mounts and floor around the "engine hole" in preperation for paint

Stuck an EL falc wiper motor in required me drilling 4 holes and soldering 4 wires, I now have very fast wipers


So when are you fitting your lexus V8

ARE WELL??? will fit the 5ltr EL in around september at this stage i have to wait for my stepson to get holidays as hes my welder as i dont have the requiered skills ( if i do the welding the motor would fall out with in 50 ks ). and i also need to save up for the extras that will be needed.

Na my beater got a 97 EL and has donated the motor, box, wiring & comp so how could i say no! the price is right ( free ). the only problem is the diff, mines a 5.16:1 geelong diffs are going to put a 9" center with 3.7:1 into my axle so then i can stay with the 6 studs & my rims, $2975.00 drive in drive away..

Turf the comp and wiring the EL has a body control module and will be a real head f#*k to get working

Every thing like door locks wipers airbag and aircon are controled by it

thanks for that info, tho i have found a company in SA that make a plug or wire? unit that tells the comp its all ok.. found this threw Fordforums australia.
