.... :-) hmmm, i could try.......

How long are the 'tubes' on yours going to be...? I have measured my manifolds against the head with the plate fitted to the block, and i reckon mine will need to be 3" plus...? :(

that seems awfully long to have to hang cast iron lumps off......

... i cannot get the flanges on the manifolds cut-and-shut either, Cosworth designed them so close to the heads, there is nothing to play with really... :(

i am thinking of biting the bullet and getting a pair of tubular manifolds in stainless....?

big gulp....

good luck

wow..... nice set up... :)

so you reckon the manifolds will' hang' off the tubes OK...? without risk of fracture??

For me it certainly seems the easiest and possibly cheapest way to go.... :)

good luck, let us know how you get on....

cheers

I dont see why it wont work. The manifolds havent been touched. THe tube wont break and as long as the welds are good they wont break. I reckon they will need replacing every few years due to the heat and cooling

If its mild steel Guy the flanges will warp :( I've had quarter inch plate warp before so I think its a bit optomistic to use 5mm......Hope I'm wrong!

The flanges are 6mm plate. where the gasket will be is the same as where the tube is welded on so hopefully the tube may hold it.

It might be an idea to make up a specer to go between the downpipes and the manifold and weld a bracket to that, then bolt it up to the engine block at the bottom, creating a sort of cantelever effect :?: That will take the strain off your extensions pretty much altogether, then you only need to worry about lateral strain rather than vertical.

It made sense to me when I thought of it anyway, not sure it came over very well though :?

I understand rover :D

I was thinking of that. Weld one end to the bottom or the manifold and bolt it to the engine mount. Somthing like that anyway :P

Brake servo vacuum is connected to the pipe above where the EGR connects to the plenum

Whats up with the power steering :?
