Wayhey!!! Right. Clutch...check, clutch stupid clip in place...check, 5 speed box...check, oil leaks none...check, radiator no holes...check, all four pistons working...check, steering working...check, accelerator opening fully...check

Guess what!!!! We're almost ready! Chief engineer came and did the front water pump housing wheel bolts things, reset engine mounts and exhaust, then gave puk a go sign. Hopefully hes coming back friday to set the tappets (they are a tad off) but she is driving!!!!

The 205 is much stronger but a bit slower at the moment, or maybe its that the 200 lump on 3 cylinders just felt out of control!

Its been an epic from rebuilding the engine that fractured to fitting the new one. Thank you so much DH for the help, the lump is great, and thank you Mutts for your continued support, encouragement and offers, i hope the book worked as well for you as it did for me.

I promised mvm the bits On the cutting room floor...

(mvm) jon, have you put grease on the exhaust manifold...yes i thought it would help the rust, its an experiment??? The ensuing fog was very smelly.

I dont think he has ever seen a bonnet cable release do that before after fitting...and my bolt blindness eventually drove him to distraction.

Good luck you all, may all your journeys not end on a tow truck :) :) wales here come puk!!! :)

what did the 205 engine originally come from :?: if it was from a car then it will probably have high compression pistons, transit 205's were low compression to give them grunt to get the weight moving :!: Once its tweeked and settled down it'll be fine tho :)

I think you will find that all 205's are the same? Transit's have the single pot carb.

The 202 is the low compression engine for the EFI set up, like the engine I put in mine and Nick took out

I beg to differ on that, the four pinto 205's i'm rebuilding at the moment tell a different story, 3 of them were from transits on standard bores and were fitted with LC pistons the other from a sierra had HC pistons

Well...foocked. Engine wont run properly, despite Mutts giving it his best shot yesterday. Thank you all for trying to help over last few weeks. Given up and booked a b&b for a couple of nights just for the break.

To catalogue last few days...

Newtome engine had no promises which Was cool...tim spent lime on gaskets and seals and painting. Swapped cam shaft. Luckily it got to mutts to have the tappets sorted before it blew up but it got there only just.

Independent fan caught alight at the dartford crossing in traffic on way home, then exhaust fell apart leaving the m25.

Drove it to wash it today and the engine will do 30mph max and sounds like a slaughtered snail. So i give up. Bed and breakfast booked for 2 days as its all the pockets will allow as have so much invested in puk over the last 2 pay days. Just crp and would like to whimper in the corner.

Transitmania looking unlikely so havent booked tickets. Happy holidays all.

Dude anyone who runs and owns a classic or old motor will have same luck from time to time...
Hello mine ain't even classic and look at the dramas I've had last 2 years!
Also dartford crossing traffic is a killer of many motors the amount I see overheated in traffic is a joke !
They cause so much anger at the tolls, and its supposed to be free now.

I always get stuck behing some c**t that doesn't see the fookin signs saying TOLL which historically means you PAY.
More delays as they then stop traffic to turn said c**t around

Chin up dude we are all here for ya !

Mate, i get what youre saying and thank you. But everything over the last year feels like such a fail now, esp the last few weeks that have been so intense. It just seems so cacking unfair given everything.

Hi J.C.
All things are sent to try us and they do,
but it is all part of life you can't appreciate the ups
if you hav'nt had the downs,
Enjoy your break in wales & when you get back the
fairies may have sorted puk ?
Mutts is your fairy godfather i'm sure.
not in the gangster sense.
All the best C.E.

Ah mate so sorry to hear this. Go and have a break and come back fresh. Don't let the metal git grind you down! If all else fails, get a big tree branch and do a Basil on him!!

Right, we're back. Thank you all for your continued support for this mess! So the works list now looks like this i think...

Another pinto engine (yes, i know the views to go diesel but i just cant see it and would like to stay with a petrol)

Modify the gearbox mounting

Dress the bulkhead to allow the engine to have some movement that doesnt foul on anything

Check engine mountings when completed.

Yes CE Mutts the fairy godfather is going to pretty busy i reckon :)

And thanks Fred, we had a very nice and intense couple of days in a place called the beach rooms just near lyme regis. The beach was stony and full of fossils (apparently).

Campernaut was saddened but supportive of losing transitmania, tax up this month so a period of sorn fast approaching, again. In reality i get what people are saying about the ups and the downs, but considering everything, it would be nice to have an up for longer than a day.

Oh and woken up to find they have pulled out both his wing mirrors and taken a full light kit from the offside front. Reviewing the cctv footage but unlikely and then a chat with the cops. Grrrrr!! One day puk might actually make it to robbiemates to have this cacking alarm fitted!!
