chuffin ell. It spat a valve seat WTF???

Yeah, no2 inlet valve seat came out of the head and jammed the valve open!! Freaky fault, never seen that one before . I took the good cam and followers from that head and put them on the other head we had. I left Jono with full instructions on how to refit the head etc, how did u get on matey??

Worked as hard as i could til dusk. All the studs were in the old head so took ages to get the first set off the old one. So far...head gasket on and sealed, exhaust manifold on, timing belt on, water pump on. Head gasket went on easy (scared) but having set up the exhaust manifold i got the furthest exhaust gasket upside down...grrr...and it had to be the one with the stud and the nut so no easy way to remove!

Timing lines you left all matched up when the cam belt went on and the two front lobes (?) were up. Bill the sailor gave some sage advice on how to get studs out...oh the joys!

Lunch break, rocker cover finally went on! Carbs in place, exhaust down pipe re mounted...cant remember how to pipe carb so stopping for piccys so far so good but no idea if what i have doned is right! Only time will tell now

Yip test drive all ok so far! Will post engineering modification later today after photo shoot. Out to check fluids later then off to waltham abbey for maiden voyage

You really need to find a four leaf clover, hang a 100 horse shoes up on the van to give you more luck

Jono, PUKs story really is a tale of woe. Hope you finally have it sorted now and can enjoy.I suppose it was a case of having to get involved in re-building the head and re-fitting but you have learnt a lot I`ll bet. That cuppa will taste even better knowing that you`ve done it yourself. Well done mate.

Aw, thanks guys. As always, without the help and encouragement, knowledge and advice of some great people on here, i really would be nowhere now!

Well, work on the other bits didnt stop. A very good friend fitted a new drivers seat and track rod ends last week, steering is almost perfect! I was worried that not driving him would dry the servo but so far so good. Although the engine is now black red and blue i think it has a little bit of you all and so a lot of love in it, so who needs clovers and horseshoes

Btw...Anyone know any rural irish blacksmiths???

Hey, we made it!!! Couple of minors...odd whistle when on idle and i dont think the exhaust is on right still! Grrr but hey...we made it!

Meets work well on any day but thursday for me...still like the idea of a saturday morning coffee and doughnut though

Just so you know...if you tighten up the middle bolt thats pouring water out and replace the stud you missed on the inlet manifold, the whistling stops
