more mods..
side exit exhaust..I cut the old exhaust as the front silencer was rotten but the rear one was okish. So chopped off the front one and attached the rear to the down pipe then using the rear tailpipe section curves i made it come out just in front of the spring hanger making a mount for the tailpipe using one of the rubbers and homemade mount bolted to the inner sill/chassis mount.. seems to work ok and isnt any louder but I did plan for a straight through system but might have been a bit loud on long runs..

Got the plastics today and fitted them..

just a bit of gap round the headlights which might need the slam panel adjusting to make the gap right and maybe the bumper moving a little..

Rear camera now fitted...snuck in FTF logo on left door for extra effect/advertising.. :D

Image

screen also fitted.
Image

made a new support for the rad as i used my mk6 rad on the conversion as the mk7 one supplied wont fit my air con rad.
Image

even got the key lock all together for bonnet release once i found out how it all comes apart(thanks to telford transit breakers for that tip.. and anyone doing it there is a pin you knock out but u then also need to transfer the lock insides over from the mk6 to the mk7 as inside bits wont fit each other..
Image

track rod ends were a bit worn on 1 side and steering arm was also worn on 1 side so did both sides..
Image

shiny bits in place along with anti roll bar links and bottom arms..no clocnks from there now except i can hear the bottom gearbox mount clonk a bit more..
Image
All tracked up as i got my own tracking set and it drives spot on..
mot due end of the month sop thought better do some of the work..2 tyres next as both down to 2.5mm at lowest point..

Went for mot friday evening..and passed with no advisorys....well they adjusted the headlights for me but they had only been set up on my garage door, they was leval just a bit low...
I had replaced both bottom arms and steering arms along with new track rod ends, painted all the underneath and waxoiled into the sills and floor gaps hopefully it will last a bit longer than most... oh and 2 tyres as the old fronts were down to 2mm... forgot to even check the rear drums but he said brakes are pretty good only bit he commented on was bottom gearbox rubber is a bit worn but not worth doing just yet(I had already checked this and its on my list but they seem pretty expensive my cure for the odd clonk from there is a bit of rubber tie wrapped in the gap..

Yes A bit of welding before mot but not to much really...fitted track rod ends and steering arms and now no knocking from the front, new bottom arms and anti roll bar drop links at same sort of time so front end is nice and tight.

A update on small bits been done..
Exhaust fitted with small silencer as I found straight through pipe a bit to boomy on speeds above 50mph.. nice shiny trim as well fitted at same time.. for those who want to know transit down pipe is 60mm outside diameter so pipe is easy to buy in sections, I fitted a 18" silencer with 60mm flared ends and a 45 degree pipe then a flared with of straight pipe with trim bit screwed on the end... trim is 80mm and just fits on end of pipe..
I used a from rubber held on the silencer with a metal fitting i already had and fits on 1 of the original fitting on the van the side pipe is on a bit of pipe i used from the rear which had a fitting in place and just used a bit of metal and bolt through the other bit of rubber, all fits in place with no knocks.
sounds much better now and can hear turbo whistle and wastegate still gargles..

I like the wheel arches, where did you get them ?.

Never noticed any knocking from the front , maybe it having a different driver after 100k starting it off .
Not that insulting your driving or anything. Lol.

So my welding held up then, that's good news.

Did you finish the inside after.?

yeah your welding was ok..I only had that bit on drivers inner arch which was also upper part of chassis leg,I did all that when i did mk7 front end..A small bit on inner sill needed doing then all underneath was well undersealed and all cavitys were then waxoiled so it should last a bit longer..
I do plan on getting repainting whole van some time next year so will look much better as up close there is a lot of minor scratches and marks from when it was a works van for mjs(who i bought the van from btw)
Archs are from Ebay, just type in sportvan transit archs and it brings up several they are held in place with stickerflex(or whatever its called) there are also 4 bits which go on the bumpers which i havent fitted yet.made from abs plastic in almost same colour as mk6 bumpers and if wanted you can easily paint the archs,I only fitted them as the van archs were pretty rusty in places and i am not the best body repairer so i rubbed down and treated the rusty bits and painted it all up fitted the archs a few weeks later and as yet nothing has fallen off :D
Still on original engine i think and up to 197k and using very little oil if anything now as i had to fit a new sump as old one was rusty and leaking oil..van goes like stink as well and still does pretty good mpg not that i really keep figures but was 35mpg last time i did a check and thats stop start and a bit of motorway driving.. oil light goes out straight away and no rattles from timing chain area, even flywheel is behaving(but i think its a solid flywheel from factory on this age anyway)

She hasn't changed then, it was on 95k when I bought it and it drove the same when I give it to you.
Always started on the first turn, oil light out straight away.
Always passed mot no problem except welding.
