Im just thinking how many grinders are in operation on this van at once

2 with 0.8mm slitting discs
1 with fibre disc
1 with wire brush
1 with "birds next" surface preperation so thats 5 of them

I have pretty much stopped using conventional grinding discs

Then theres the recip saw too

Look who's talkin' :P You've seen (and successfully repaired!) worse than that  It's boring without the rust

Yeah, idiot owners who didn't really know how to treat it, let alone drive it  To be fair, most of the rust developed in my ownership, since life got in the way... It's now or never, restore it, or loose it, before the rust takes over completely  I'm grateful there are trusty hands left on this world where I can leave my monster and collect a beauty  Who knows... 4 years, 2 transits, 5 drives across Europe, three engines and two kids later - I might finally end up with nice, rust free van

*sighs* ................ well, not much to report as I've been fighting off the effects of a major abcess under one of my teeth :(

Over the weekend I managed to get some trimming back and tidying of the edges where panels will go - that's all really...............

Lets see how long this takes on the tablet...

Since the previous update Kalkat had been busy fettling the panels to fit. Initially we tried to replace just the outer edge of the inner arch but the panel provided was a rubbish fit - so we fitted an inner arch I had in stock from Dieselhead, only minor fettling was required

Image

Image

And a few repairs of the panelwork to the rear

Image

That last bit was left until the outer panel was put on in order to make the panel fabrication easier

Other than that the rear corner is now fully welded underneath :)

I moved on to repairing other bits of floor inside and have cut the rust out and repaired some of it

Image

Image

That bit is all now fully welded up and finished but there are still big holes to fix! In the mean time Kalkat was busy fixing dints and dents with the panel temporarily fitted.

Image

But the real progress is this all fitted and doodled on!

The long panel has gone on relly well with no distortion, the short one has a little distortion in one place but nothing that can‘t be fixed.
