Please god explain this to me gently! Right. Timing and carbs. Again, one more time for the idiot with the camper...

Weber twin...mixture screw...turn in until stops (gently) back out about 2.5 turns.
Accelerator/idle screw at front, back out until hits arm.
Large screw at the back of the carb in the middle??? What is it and what the cack do i do with it?

Timing...has to be done by a gun

What is the best way to get the mix right? Is it smoke? Is it a plug in ark plug? Is it a co2 meter?

Should i just pay someone and stop s@dding about???

The carb has to be the right one first don't forget. If it isn't then it will never run right. They have specific jets and emulsion tubes for each engine size and type. Get these correct before moving onto carbs.

Cam timing correct
Spark plug gaps correct
Tappet gaps correct
Distributor contacts new genuine and gapped
Distributor timing correct
Engine warmed up

Now start fiddling with them screws. One should be mixture for smooth idle and run, the other throttle position for idle rpm.

The one on the corner is idle and run, the one on the front is the throttle position...but what is the one on the back?

I still have an annoying backfire when i stop and am losing too much petrol and not gaining enough power at higher speeds? I have checked all hoses

Backfire is unburnt fuel, so if everything else is good then your dumping too much fuel in on overrun.

Is the carb new/refurbished, or original?
