At last, weekend off and now im itching to play, gonna get the bulkhead moved, cut, hinged and re fixed in rear 3rd of van.
cut ply board to expose window orifice and seat belt mounting points...
if i get that done theres the central locking solenoid and delock too and the contact plates for the central locking on sld!

Game on sun was out got loads done today...

bulkhead in original position

Image

ill have to retrim the rear of the front seats now, lucky i got left over seat covers!

Image

plenty of legroom in the rear... well will be once tidied!

Image
Image

bulkhead in place after gettin cut, hinged but not yet affixed to floor or walls...
Image

few shots from different places in van
Image
Image
Image

took door card off the sld, disabled the slamlock, will at some point delock and weld hole over...
not so interesting piccy of a lock. solenoid will go in tomo when i remember where i put it!!
Image

just need to find some suitable L brackets to screw up along sides of bulkhead to affix to van walls. will put brackets on both front and rear sides of bulkhead to resist it moving from stuff moving about or vandals.

the top bit as its hinged needs some kind of batoning so it forms a stop when up but allows flap to be hinged if i gotta shift a sheet of wood or a matress for example... :D

also exposed top n/s seat belt mounting point for the shoulder brace, roller mount point already exposed. will expose o/s point tomo!!!

am absolutely fkd/broken/aching so must have been a good graft!! :D

Got a fair bit more done today . worked from bout half 10 til bout 3pm.

managed to find some brackets to secure the bulkhead to the walls. only small but will do for the moment til i figure out what will be more secure- dont want stuff flying through onto passengers. also need to get some lock/bolts to secure the hinged flap at each side.

Image

the solenoid went in easier than anticipated... after cutting slamlock linkage out i only needed to drill 2 holes to secure solenoid to suitable place where it convieniently hooks onto the lock mechanism 8)

in place

securing screws

Image

the next job was a pain, mainly due to owning shyte battery drill...

Sld contacts installed, made a bit of a hash of it but its in now so not bothered.
Image
Image

template stuck on and holes drilled...
Image
wires connected and ran to footwell
Image
Image

solenoid locks and unlocks door- tested it by holding the wires i ran onto known live and earth. works really well considering!!

never managed to successfully locate 2 wires that reverse polarity coming from central locking... tried but got tired so im gonna cheat and fit a dash mounted switch that will lock and unlock- just a DPDT double pole double throw switch or even a mk3 window switch will do ... if i can be bothered ill look in haynes and see if i can find the right wires, doubt it tho think the solenoid im using is different set up to ford ones, despite in theory them just being electric motors!

now baby sitting a snoring little boy so finished for the day!

Ive been using this site for years Rob http://www.the12volt.com/doorlocks/page3.asp#arp
I used 3 wire solenoids with reversing polarity relay setup on the van, along with a 2 wire motor on the rear door, all off one switch, might some other useful configurations on there too

cheers Al. i actually quite like the idea of being able to lock or unlock it from dash, easy to wire up a dpdt switch to do it... power goes to the middle two contacts (if its got 6 contacts) the end two pairs are joined on opposite sides forming an X and the take off to solenoid is from either end!! :D

did i imagine it Al , or do your window switches live in the centre dash area?
