Bit more wiring done on the jag today, its beginning to look like a right old spaghetti mess!!

Once the bulk of dead/redundant wiring is cut back it should look alot thinner then we can set about removing it draping it on the engine and firing it up if we can then still drive it like this then the engine/box wil be out

just read this post through looks like its gonna be a awesome build I got a guy from Walsall to unwire my lexus ls400 and once its finally fitted it rewire it for £100.

Sounds like a good price, I don't know whats involved with the lexus unit re wiring wise but if he'd have said that to me with this jag engine/box I'd have snatched his hand off!!

The trouble with the jag is that there is more than 1 ecu as the boot 1 speeks to another and that speeks to the engine management and that sends info to another that translates it into info for the cluster etc etc (probably not as long winded as that but you get the idea lol) so its hard to know just what we need till it's all out stripped right back and the car still running/driving as normal.

I could've gone down the stand alone set up but it would mean locking out the vvt and thats worth 20bhp and plus another 20bhp once its mapped, I which case I could've just gone down the st220 lump route.

Bit of a headache at the mo but will hopefully be worth it when shes done

Also picked these leather seats up today for the fronts (well whole set but won't be using the rears), went for seats out of a 3dr car so that the seats tilt forwards becuse in future I want to fit swivel bases so thought the tilting action might help with space etc.
Should go nicely with my scenic rears in grey leather too

I know what you mean .theres more wires and boxes on this lexus than the national grid lol. I down loaded the wiring diagram and no idea what im looking at

Yeh we have a wiring diagram too but for the time being everything that we unplug is being labled so that once the loom is free the unnecessary light clusters, airbags and air con etc can be thinned out and snipped at junctions/ecu as these dont have any effect on how the car drives ( they dont now so shouldn't be an issue anyway ) we may just have to keep certain earth points but we'll see what we can get away with.

Quite exciting but when you see the wiring the thought of "what the ef have I started here" is always in the back of your head

Update time!
Been a while since the last update as the mrs has just had our 2nd daughter!
Finally the engine/box out of the jag!
Bit of a task, the engine/box came out easy it was removing the rest of the stuff around it that was the difficult bit

I do like wiring. It's a doddle for me.

Reminds me when I retro fitted IC, PCM, GEM, SRS, ABS/ESP, SAS, YRS from a 2010 Transit Connect into a 2004 Connect.
& have it all working

Secondly do you have a list of actual sensors on lump ie
Tps
Ect
Air flow or air mass meter
Oil temp
Crank pos sensor
Cam pos sensor
Etc etc
Once you know exact requirements for the running of lump could go omex or megasquirt and f*** off all unnecessary bits!

Yeh we have talked about going megasquirt as the jag wiring is proving to be biach! the block is based on the ford duratec so is pretty standard with regards to tps, cam/crank sensors etc other than the vvt witch would need an output programing to come in at a certain revs........i must admit it is tempting

The van will be getting looked at next week now that the engine is out, so welding is the next job/s
