Been to the scrappies today. Found a V-Reg with the holy grail still intact so I've got it and it's fitted.

Not very exciting I know, but I must have looked in 30 odd trannies in that scrapyard in the past and this is the first time i've seen a cupholder in one!

I can see why they're always broken mind you, very flimsy things...

Also got the heater control section as one of my control cables has a bend in it.

The same van has electric windows and mirrors so i'm back tomorrow with some more tools for the doors and loom.

Also has a captains seat with 2 armrests, seat pad is knackered but i may get it to extract the arms from to try and fit the Espace swivel seats I have, bit of welding and upholstery required so may be a backburner job!

And believe me, it's like Indiana Jones dodging round the teetering cars and falling engine blocks in that place. Proper old stylee scrappies where you wander round and rip off the bits you want. Not these modern ones where you wait for an hour while some chump gets the wrong bit for you...

Only ever had one, in a new works van, lasted about 6 months
Don't use it , just look at it (very carefully a haed stare can shatter em at 20 paces)

Been to the scrappies today to collect the other bits.

Usual builders plaster stuck to the cards, but overall in good condition so will clean up and fit in nicely.

Also got a spare mirror off another electric mirrored tranny in the yard in case one of my motor sets doesn't work:

The bag isn't a colostomy bag, it's the lumbar support

So the plan is to re-fit the mirror guts in my long arm mirrors, fit the electric window gear in my doors and fit the armrests to my swivel seats..

I'm going to be busy...

All that lot for £40, I was quite pleased with that. I removed the window motors from the other V-Reg tranny in the yard as spares to go with the spare mirror, but he was after £10 each for them so I left them for today. Probably worth £10 each, but I didn't have the cash...

hi, great info on transplant, im just doing one now, i was just wondering when you put the wiring and dash in did the fuel guage work with the original sender or did you have to change it for the one from the doner? thanks john

Good question, that's one of a couple of outstanding electrical connections, that and the reverse light. I need to get back under and grub about. I'll let you know when I have....

Plugs look the same though so should be electrically compatible, not sure if the sender is the same though. Mk5 tank may be deeper?
