well............... rads on all piped up took it for a run round there seems a long delay on the autobox not ideal for north weald and its blowing out a fair bit of black smoke, smells really rich

i need to top the autobox up - hopefully that will help

still been working on this but not really posted much updates - nothing really exciting

the brakes completely failed (gradually and not as we were driving it) so i've fitted a new master cyl - bled it last night and ive got a good pedal again

all set for north welad - still not really fully ready but i should at least get a couple of runs - not had any practice with the autobox and it's not something ive had a lot of experiance with (drag racing an auto) so thats excuse no.1 no.2 is i've not actually had the engine running any boost (regestering on the gauge) as i think it needs to be under load, alt's not charging......... loads of smaller things but we'll see how it goes it is a test and tune after all

well................... not very well

i managed to get the van down on the A-frame great weekend but not so great 1/4 mile times

1st run the gearbox mount came loose and the back brakes seized on (we managed to release them and they were ok for the rest of the day) - not sure exactly yet what the brake problem is but i know what bits ive swapped and i'll be able to investigate the time was 26 seconds but the speed over the line was 29mph

the rest of the runs were in the 18 seconds and 18.36 was the best - very dissapointing but i have loads to do - electrically i didnt have any gauges - i managed to get the temp gauge and the gear indicator lights working while i was queuing for 1 run i thought i was maybe not getting any boost but i fitted the boost gauge from the cossy mk6 and i was getting 11psi so that wasnt a major problem - theres a lot of wiring issues i need to address - i want all my gauges rev counter etc all fitted before next run also i need to practice my starts with the auto as 1 start i was holding it on the brake and the back wheels were spinning while the red light was on

Slightly tempted to fit a Rover V8 (4.6) with either an Eaton M45/M60 or perhaps a GMC 6/71, running a full megasquirt setup into my transit

But I'm happy with a turbo diesel for the moment......

hmm.....Mk5 Transit with OM603 or 6BT?

I do still prefer diesels......considering getting a small diesel for a motorbike to replace the troublesome petrol engine

I havent touched this all week .......... after the dissapointment of NW but had a bit of spare time today, my aim now is to get it MOT'd and on the road before the next show!

i tidied up the wiring pulled out a load more redundant wires - sorted the alternator not charging fault and traced the wire back to power up the dash (fault that i found last weekend)

i've also ordered a new centre bearing might as well fit that now before i put the prop back on

i know it was the 1st time out but i was dissapointed i didnt beat the time i set with the cossy engine in or at least get close but i was 1.4 seconds off
revving to............ no idea rev counters not working yet grip has always been a problem, it wasnt much worse - at least this time i didnt spin it up during gear changes

i'll be back - ford fair i'll have a go at the sprint and north weald 2013 we should be well sorted by then

been working through odd jobs for the MOT, done the new prop centre bearing, speedo's working now too
slowly transferring the functions over to the previa sticks, got the indicators sorted, lights should be easy too but as the previa sticks are low current (not like the transit ones) i need to run everything through relays, i havent got a drawing for the previa ones and i can only find 1 wire out for the main beam - not sure if that can be right as it would mean i can it so the main beam flash works when you pull the stick back but it'd also come on when you push it forward bit more testing with the meter i think
