Mk 1 Interior Refurbishment

Postby dpeu » Wed Jun 13, 2012 11:37 pm

Hello,

We bought late late last year this 1976 Transit Mk 1 Camper.

The outside had been renovated so we left it the way it was.

Concerning the interior, we thought a more fresh and modern approach was necessary. I'am not much a fan of the 70's style decoration. So after nearly 9 months of continuous work here are some 'before - after' pictures for your review.

I think we have made some nice progress but we still have some work to do. New curtains will be added soon and the driving area needs also some work

Hope you like it.

Kind regards,

Dirk

Well, the previous owner has swapped the original engine for a V6 2.4 engine with the 5 speed gearbox taken from a Ford Scorpio. It drives very well.
The positive side is that the performance is adequate with our use (driving 100 km/h on the motorway).
The negative side is the mileage of +/- 18 liters per 100 km, but I have been told that original engines are also rather 'thursty'.

A lot of modifications have been made by the previous owner and myself which are not easily noticeable at first but which make it a bit special.
I must add that this camper is not realy aimed for holidays but must be seen as a promotional tool.

If interested, I could add some pictures of the less visible changes.

Regards,

Dirk

Very, very nice! Image

The vehicle has a lovely, fresh look, both inside and out, something that's a lot harder to achieve whilst retaining the original layout.

I'd love to see the "less visible changes", and any other pic's which you'd care to share.
