Its Lean, Its Mean, Its Green

Postby AlanN » Mon Aug 20, 2012 9:32 am

I know Nick doesnt have a PC at home at present, so with Transitmania 2012 coming up, I thought I would start a thread off for him.
Since the demise of Nicks last Transit, he has found another MK5 which some of you saw at the North Weald Drag Racing Weekend earlier this year with a rebuilt 2.9efi.
With 3 weeks until Transitmania, I talked Nick into going, but there was no way he was going in this beaten up ole BT van... We talked about what we could do with it in such a short time, sounds a bit familar when we started mine just before Transitmania last year.
Basically everything needed doing, so after some hummming and arh'ing, he agreed to have a go around all the other jobs going on at the time, like.

I just had a look through my old photos and Ive not got any of his van before we started, but I'll keep looking.

Ive taken a ton of photos, but Im having trouble getting off my new phone and on to the PC
Anyway, its been a slog, but I didnt get home until 4am this morning after a day and night of body prep and paint, 3 layers of base, 3 of pearl and 3 of lacqure. The blasted pearl paint was lumpy and would mix down, so what can you do in the middle of the night, but filter it 3 times, had a row of paper paint cups each with filters slowly straining the lumps out of the paint  Didnt get up until 11 this morning and went off back to the workshop... Nick stayed until 6am this morning and not 100% happy, but we have rushed it... again. We started bolt everything back on today, clean as we went. Too many nuts and bolts   His gonna start mopping the paint tomorrow as he was falling asleep today.
Try and get some more pictures on later tonight, I know Nick put some on the Transitmania page of Facebook

Loads of other jobs in, a Mini Cooper for remetal and paint, a 1970's caddy, MG race car in the background of Interceptor, not much of it left, 69 Sunbeam, 2 capri's, one of them is a right heap, can't remember half of them.

Would you believe the Focus bumper was wider than the van, so had to be cut down  I should have also added the smilie grille is in there as well, so it all fixes on with the original fixings.
He brought some adapters, last week, but the Mazda RX8 wheels ended up being scrapped  so It looks like he is going to borrow some wheels... I let you in on it later when they are on, if they fit
