my new recovery truck build

hi all spent a while looking for a half decent truck and this is what i found




i think the guy was towing cars on a trailer or something that why it got all the stickers on

already got the body an ex aa spec lift off my old truck kiled off by the lez and major rust


over the next month im going the fit it and ready for work

got the back fitted at last took a week to get on as i had to cut the mounts off and remount in a different place plus went though ten or more drill bit to make new holes in the mounts


oh and turned out that one of the rails on the spec chassi was a bit bent so took a day try to bend straight with the engine host blow torch and a hammer but got there in the end

old mound cut moved and new hole drilled

How did that pass an mot anytime in the last 3 or 4 years or did all that rust just suddenly appear this year

the funny thing is it could still lift a car with out snapping in half

obviously chassis was backed up (strengthwise) by the speclift bed its definately the worst i've seen, suddenly both my projects dont seem so bad anymore

Probably hasn't had an MOT ? MOT exempt ??
do people still get away with using an MOT exemption form in the PO for a vehical that isn't? used to happen all the time if the vehical had "recovery" on the log book.

Not seen many worse than that but all the ones that were worse were spec lifts

just to let you guy know the mk3 will be broken for parts so if any parts are needed let me know

manage to get the sides filed in build a box frame out of 40x40 box steal then had a fabricator bend the steal sheet to keep the line of the body

Once thats all blended and painted will look the part mate top job there

behind the checker plate was a bit rotten so removed it as didnt like the checker cut the rotten metal out and replaced with new metal

last of the lockers fitted had to replace the bottom as it was rotten
