martynx wrote:No problem , only other mod was the speed sensor wiring at back of gearbox needed extending - 5 minute job. And I needed the 6 speed gear change cables and stick assembly but that was plug & play.

I saw a set of cloth ST seats go for 150 locally on eBay so they do come up at a decent price occasionally . :-)

Hi Martyn

More questions I'm afraid :?

I'm pretty sure I'm going to swap the gearbox, but a couple of things I need to confirm.

slave cylinder - is it external on the 5 and internal concentric on the 6 :?: Is the pipe work an easy swap :?:

Will the 6 mate to my existing clutch flywheel setup :?:

I have a stick/selector on the way, no cables as yet, and I'll probably get a spare prop to modify.

Anything else I need to consider :?:

Sorry Mate.

Ask away Man , no worries  You will need the 6 speed clutch & flywheel.. I cant remember any dramas on the slave cylinder piping, have a feeling its plug & play / same system etc ..the cables were cheap new like 75 quid a set or something.. :) :)

Cheers Martyn, appreciated :)

But I can't use the 6 speed flywheel apparently, something to do with crank sensor :?:

Hmm not sure on that - but mine ran 140 software happily as a 5 Speed.. suggesting the output signal from the sensor was the same? what have you heard about it exactly ?

Did a trawl for posts about swapping from 5 to 6, and didn't come up with much, but found some stuff from 2009 where someone had tried it, but that due to the sensor being in a different position it couldn't register and the software refused to start the motor

there was some discussion bout moving sensors etc., but it was over my head to be honest. Now I can't find it

Trouble is, I'm trying to do this and finish my house extension, and deal with call outs from the fire service too. Too many jobs :?

Agent Orange

Postby martynx » Fri Jul 03, 2015 11:57 pm

Inlet has been improved a bit this eve :) on 200's the Egr feeds into a separate MAP sensor housing and has a chimney / funnel protruding in which takes up a fair amount of room. I cut the protrusion away and filled up the hole with black body filler.
I used an EGR blanking plate for the outside screwed onto remnants of the Egr feed pipe.

Feels more urgent to drive but I emptied the back out as well this eve , so the 40 kilo reduction may be the reason;)

Been meaning to do it for ages so I'm pleased it's sorted ready for North Weald this weekend.

I wonder how heat tolerant body filler is ?!

Should do OK with heat in itself but if it's standard filter then the expansion tends to crack it if applied to something that Is likely to have slight movement :-(
If that does happen tho you could probably use a sealant type stuff .

I think it should be ok tho.

It's bumper repair stuff LOL , hence it being black. Smells exactly the same as P40 or whatever regular body filler is called :-)

We use what we have ;)

& cheers Tango , but you should bring your fire engine along , that would be something to see that go down the strip!!!
