Good to see you again Howard :D

I have always though that the serpentine engine would be the way to go.

Love the door 'decals' 8)

Nice, should be better on fuel too with the hotwire EFI.

Being from a farming background, "FORD 4000" doesn't immediately conjure up quite the mental image of speed for me, that it would for most.

HI chaps, we recently sold one of these 'kits' to enable the installation of an RV8/Mt75 combination in a Ford Escort

If he sends me some pics or a link to his 'build' I will post it up in the Non Transit Talk section, should be 8)

The conversation did not include the details of the vehicle the engine was intended for
I will ask when we speak again.

Naturally I am too young to remember Mk1 or 2's

Don't worry LB, as the thread originator, I won't consent to the moderators deleting your post on the grounds that it contains no relevant technical accuracy

Just a quick note to say wow, what a transformation, the 3.9 injection motor pulls like a train.

It's the injection which makes it better, the standard SU carbs are good, but undersized, bigger Jag ones give more power. These engines like EFI though. :D I have two SD1's , the 3500SE goes much better with EFI than it did with carbs, and it's much more economical.

As for the Escort conversion, why fit a 2.0 Pinto, when the Rover V8 is only a few pounds heavier, because it has an ally block, and is a huge amount lighter than the iron block Ford V6s? More top end power, and nearly twice as much power mid range than the 2.0 at the same revs, which makes it feel like a real monster, when compared to a tuned Pinto. 4.6 would be cool, big valve heads and tubular exhaust manifolds etc, as long as you coil spring the back end.

There ain't no substitoot for cubes :P :P

*NEWS FLASH* Just heard that the 4000 GT is ready, the gas conversion complete. They managed to get a 180 litre tank under the driver's side, possibly 160 usable litres will give it an intergalactic range! I will collect it monday and let you know the full details.

The gas conversion... 180 litre tank with a usable 160 litres of capacity, controller, injector and vapouriser. It starts on gas too, just whiffs of gas (farts) for a few seconds after starting. Will let you know what the economy is like once we have got some miles on it.
